This afternoon I was driving to bank to apply for a job, and I see this Eclipse about three cars up in the right lane. I was in the left lane and we were on a major street in Oklahoma City. It was black, lowered, had a big combat spoiler, a combat body kit that looked like it had seen better days, curb-checked 17's, a big azz muffler, and it had an RS badge on the back. The light in front of us turned red, he stopped at the front of his lane, and as luck would have it, the car in front of me moved over into the left turn lane! I pulled up next to him, started inching up a little, and then revved it. He revved back, and it was on. We both watched the turn lane lights turn yellow, then red and we both punched it. I pulled hard off the line, about a car length, and as I shift into second, I hear something outta my window...sssshhhhhhHHHHHHH!!!! He had a GS-T with an RS badge!! I knew I was in it now! I was about three car lengths ahead as I shifted into third, and still pulling hard. I could tell his was an auto by the way it shifted. As I shift into fourth at about 95mph, I was ahead by like 7 car lengths, but I could see he was starting to gain fast! As I hit 110, he had already made up about 5 car lengths, and as I hit my govenor at 117 (in a 40 mph zone, btw) he flew past me! Those damn turbos have hella top end! I guess I would call this a roadkill for me. If I beat a car to 100, I consider my car faster, at least on the street. I would have stomped him in the 1/4 mile!

And just so you guys know, the street we were racing on runs in front of Tinker Air Force Base, there are no houses on the other side, and all the gates were closed. There was no chance of anyone pulling out in front of us, or I wouldn't have taken it into triple digits. There were also no cars in front of us...Just didn't wanna get flamed because someone thought were going 110+ through a city!

Next time look at the door handles. =) GS/GST/GSX have body color door handles. RSes have black. But you would have wrecked him in the 1/4 mile.. =)

the gs/rs are soo easy to beat..ive beat both without any problems..when i raced the gs i slowed down a couple of times so he could catch up, and then i would pass him by.
i raced a gs-t once..head to head the whole time...i think i did pretty good, considering i have no go fast modds.

Well, the car was black so I can't really remeber if the handles were glossy black or not. Plus it looked like he hadn't washed it since he bought it!

that is a good kill

eclipse gst/gsx's are fast and they do have a lot of top end....I used to own a 93 gs-t and that thing would pull hard about 2500 rpm's on up to redline.....I would say that is a great kill!!

btw slick, i am usually up almost all night so I only come onto forum during night......who else is going to the texas meet from OK?

COOL...

My friend has an auto Eclipse. He has just average bolt on for a turbo car, and he runs like 15.0. But he does have a lot of top end, witch is funny cause another friend has a 1.8t in a beatle and than car has NO top end.(15.1@89)???

Woops!!

What I ment to right was that the the Eclipse DOES have a lot of top end and the Beatle does not. Two turbo cars two very differant settups.

Nice job...those turbo eclipses are fast....
But the RS......RS = Real Slow. I think the RS has the same engine as the Neon.

Yeah, but it said RS on the back!!! If it said GS-T, I wouldn't have been so quick to rev! I still would have ran him, but I would've been a little scared!
