Weird noise help?
Ok so my '99 i30 has been making this weird noise since..... about middle of September. It sounds like my brake pads are going but heres the thing... it ONLY happens when i accelerate fro ma stop or close to a stop, and stops when i get up to about....15 mph. It doesnt affect how the car drives... at all, but the weird thing is it stopped the whole winter, and just started making it again during this storm that started yesterday...but sounds worse. I know its in the back, but my ONLY guess is maybe a brake pad is sticking when I accelerate? I dont know though, but any help or advice would be awesome and greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks a lot!!

i think you and i have the same problem.. it's as if i hear one of my rotors grinding but it's weird because i tried to apply the hand brake a bit and the foot break at the same time while going about 20 mph and the noise was still there.. tried going at faster speeds so the pads and rotors would be applied tighter and still the noise was there.. what the heck could it possibly be.
bearings? the noise happens when i go straight.. and on turns and almost every time.

one time in my 3rd gen i hit a huge fresh speed bump and something scraped, a horrible screeching would kick in every once in a while so i took it in and a brake part was bent from the scrape, did you scrape the bottom at all recently?

Its a squeeling noise. that only happens when i go from a complete stop.... or like 2 mph

Check your rear pads. They may be so worn down that the wear sensors are in contact with the rotors at all times. That's what happened with my car, and I couldn't figure out what the squealing was until I pulled my wheels off and checked up close.
What you might think is only making sound from 0-15 is probably just being drowned out by the road noise, engine noise, etc. above 15 MPH.
The reason you'd hear it more while braking is because the brakes are compressed and the wear sensor is actually being forced against the rotor.
