Warranty

Does anybody know if the alternator is covered under the powertrain warranty? The other day I went to go start up my car and it made this weird noise and the engine just reved up on its own to like 3 or 4 (somewhere aroudn that area) so i decided to turn off the engine and i notice smoke coming from under my hood. Later on my brother tells me that its probably the alternator cause the smoke was coming from that area and the noise as well. Now my car makes a loud noise when I drive it. I have so many things to fix on my car. Its giving me a headache.

No, the alternator is not covered under the powertrain warranty. It is only covered under the 3yr/36k bumper to bumper warranty. I had my alternator replaced under warranty at 32k miles. My car did the same thing too...funny sounds at startup, and then it began to whine, and then finally, lights dimmed and charge light came on.

Well, go get that alternator checked out immediately. I don't want you to get stranded like I did!
