Is it too early to put rims back on?

Alright guys.....Have had my chrome rims off since November...put stocks with winter tires since (Midwest)....I can't wait to put my rims back

Do you think it still is too early.....or should I just go for it...I don't think we will be seeing anymore snow this season...

Anyone put their rims back on in the snowstates?

Don't you know the weather in your area? I think it's really up to you.

I haven't put my summer wheels out yet, b/c I need a set of tires....but I'm pretty sure we're done for snow. So go for it...

Think all we'll get is rain this weekend. I switched mine yesterday along with the annual brake inspection (add lube & work ebrake cable to the growing annual routine)

really up to you and depending on the weather situation..I always do the same but always skeptic because of potholes so sometimes I wait longer, but def love my car with the rims on so always eager to put them back on lol.

Just swapped out my steelies and snows a couple days ago, so I feel your angst. However, everyone here is right: weather is regional. If your 10-day forecast calls for over-freezing temps, that will ride you almost to April, at which point you're probably OK.

I run summer-only rubber, so it's always a gamble for me.

I get it, man. Good luck.

I have been debating that as well, tho car stays in storage for a little yet. My rule is always wait for two good solid rains...and by rains I mean thunderstorms. Then I am sure all of the salt is washed away. The sides of the roads are still white-ish

new rims arrived yesterday. would be on today but gotta wait on 2 new tires. only concern is whether you have summer tires and if it gets too cold at night AND you drive then.
Other wise throw them on already.

Guys, temperature is irrelevant with summer-only tires. The concern is summer-only tread design, which is ineffective on snow & ice; i.e. dangerous. As long as the roads are dry or wet, you're fine. Ride them on snow & ice, however, and kiss your butt goodbye.

I don't think the concern is always traction, for me it is salt. Salt tends to ruin everything automotive. That is why I wait for 2 good thunderstorms to wash it all away. If traction was the issue, I would have had my car out on the first day above 50

i put my summer tires back on, but only because i hit i chunk of something on the freeway and blew out one of my winter tires. i would expect 1 or 2 more storms this season i guess we'll see though

+1, But the NE got slammed with rain ALL last weekend, so I assume that the salt is almost 100% gone now.

Ya just ordered new tires for my 03 and having them mounted on the rims on Saturday. Not sure if I will put them on just yet. Going to play it by ear.
My general rule of thumb is Winter tires on Nov 1st and summer tires on April 1st.
Some years I have deviated and waited till ThanksGiving and other years I have waited till after Easter. You can never tell in NE.
I know this weekend is supposed to be awesome weather!

Its too early to call here in MO. It was 65 or 70 the past two days and starting tonight into tomorrow were supposed to have 30 MPH winds and 3-5 inches of snow? I call weatherman BS.

__EDIT__
well it actually happend. about 4 inches now and snowing hard still.
more salt and beet juice, yay!

You should all come join me in Hawaii where you'll never have to worry about winter wheels and tires again. But if salt is your major concern, here it's not on the road but in the air and gets a film all over the car the first night after a wash.

today sucked, for the last week theres been basically no snow, everything melted and last night i went out at about 10pm and it was raining. got back at 11, still rain. looked out of the window at midnight, pile of snow. This morning the roads were all ice and everyone was sliding, i think everyone thought it was safe to put their summer rims on

hey guys...thanks for all the responses....I will be putting my rims back on tomorrow..FINALLY!.....i wanted to wait out last weekend because of the forecast of slush and snow....thought that they would unload the rest of the darn salt on the roads....but of course they didn't...if I would have put them on last weekend....i guarantee you that my chrome rims would have been white.....anyway.....can't wait.....

We always....always...always get hit with one minor snowfall in early April here in Chicago. I don't put good wheels (or bring out my Z) until at least mid April.

I'm not so much worrying about snow as potholes around here. The roads suck in DE, especially on my street. My neighbors have a display of hubcaps in their yard from peoples that have come off. I won't be throwing the SE-R's on till early to mid April, but the wait is killing me.

Had them on since the last week in March......I guess I timed it just right and got lucky....couple of times they did forecast some light snow (1") but never happened....here in the midwest....1 inch of snow= 4 inches of salt it seems.
