Advice on arguing with insurance company

This afternoon, my immaculately cared for, 1993 Maxima SE 5-speed was run off the road by a big rig on I-35 north of San Antonio (he was ticketed and I walked away) and I'm certain that my insurance company(Nationwide) will total it. I guess what saved me was impacting the sand barrels that are placed before concrete highway dividers. I checked the car over at the salvage yard; the radiators were pushed back but did not get to the block. Tires weren't flattened and even the belts were still tight. The car had 82500 original miles on it. Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with the insurance company to get top dollar out of my deceased Maxima? I want another one; what's the scoop on the new 6-speeds?
