Heres the story I'm driving down the road doing the speed limet coming back from voting {GORE},and I see a cop like 5 cars back flashing his lights so I pull over assuming he's going to just drive bye.Instead pulles up behind me,I'm like what the hell did I do wrong so he tells me I need a new muffler and he is going to give me a fix it ticket.So I attempt to explain to him It's legal and that I just had the car inspected so he starts yelling at me and threatning me and trying to say I was speeding to and all these other false acuzations and he searches my whole car and says I got a fake inspection sticker.So I am getting very upset and aggrevated.It just pisses me off that I did'nt do jack shi* and he treats me this way,so now I have to get my car inspected at some state inspection place.I feel like killing this guy realy badly for treating me this way it's just because I am only 20 and I have a realy nice car {stereotype} which I paid for I might add.Also the damn cop was like no way near me so he could not have even heard my exaust I was just crusing at 2000 RPM which is not loud at all.Have any of you guys had experiences like this.

Just take it to the judge and get it written off... judge here threw mine out (when I had my old Supra).

 

Yes, I had the same exact experience. I was at a red light, not even moving! The cop pulled me over for my Apex muffler, and said "all aftermarket exhaust modifications are illegal." I did not get pulled over for sound, but simply because it wasn't stock! I am currently set for court for late November. You said you fought yours in court and won? What measures did you take to help win the case? ANYONE else who has fought this and won, please give me some advice/help on what to do...I don't want to lose my muffler!! Thanks guys, and I feel for you EMAX.

 

If "all aftermarket exhausts are illegal", does this include the piece of crap mufflers that Midas welds on cars? Sounds like it is just a bunch of power-hungry, bored cops to me.

 

I was thinking about going with an Apex'i, but I don't want to have problems.

 

I have an Apex Dunk...but it is very quiet! I did not get pulled over for the sound, I got pulled over cause the cop was an a$$hole! Don't worry...the Apex Dunk is quiet with stock piping.

 

If the cop wants to gank you in court, he'll lie and say your muffler was loud as hell. The judge will give the fine and that will be the end of it. Don't take that chance! Go get it passed for real, and the judge won't say crap.

Cops are mother fu_ _ ers. I had one give me a ticket for laying drag when I didn't even do anything. I went to court and he told the judge I was reving my engine and all this crap. I had to pay a big fine. Boy, I thought I was going to have a stroke! To this day I'm still masterminding how to kill that bastard, and its been a year!!!

 

i have had 2 expiriences with them.. i was in my friends modded mitsu GSX (t4 turbo and other goodies)... well i guess my friend had his fog lights on.. so he followed him all the way to my house... from the highway i might add.. and i live in a typical suburbia neighborhood and the cop rolled up next to us and was like "u cant drive with fogs on" and we were like oh sorry... didnt know they were on.... and he started asking us where we live cuz he thought we were up to no good..... then i said i lived in the house we were parked at and i swear to god the cop looked disapointed.. geez.. what a freak.. the next was when i was chillen with this girl at a pier and i guess people saw us and called the cops.. these people said that the girl looked under age.. i was like what??? we're both 16... just cuz she short.. and the cop gave me this whole lecture thingie... can u say ghetto?? cops always showin up in my house too.. stupid neighbors...grrrr..... i had to vent

 

Did he ask for concent to search? Did you say yes? You should have said no. If he didn't ask, they he violated your rights... it's against the law to search without reasonable cause. unless you said it was ok.

He was accusing me of shi* so I said go ahead be my guest,search my car.He did not even look in the good hide outs though.

One other thing after he let me go I floored it up the speed limit and just threw it into neutrol and kept my foot on the pedal for a while {Broom Brooooom!!} just to **** him off.I am going to take my Y-Pipe off when I go to the special Pound me up the *** inspection place so I will have no more problems.What is the law for Sound DB's for exaust anybody now??It probobly verys from state to state though.

 

There are no provisions for law enforcement to measure the sound output. That's what I told the judge... I actually went to CHP and local PD and they don't have one! Judge threw it out (dismissed).

I'm technically legal with my GReddy... i even have a dB readings when my car was tested at GReddy. But, that still won't keep a cop from writing it up... that's just how the system works right now... sucks...

 

and get it inspected yet again and make them look like idiots {which they are} and then throw it back on the next day,all and all it's just a royal pain in the ***.

where do you live? if in Cali then email me cause i can help you out with this. Ive gotten smog violation tickets, fix its, and anything else. State Inspection only means you gotta see the State Ref. good luck man, I personally would fight it regardless if its trouble or not....
