Generation MixuP?
Generation MixuP?
Haha, I thought this was a bit interesting. I apologize for the re-post or past posts about the article. According to edmunds.com and the Maxima history, we are all wrong with our Maxima generation classification. They threw in the original Datsun 810 as the first generation Maxima, which throws off the entire generation classification. According to them, my 2001 AE is a 6th generation Maxima. That sounds a bit odd. Buuut it's interesting.

What's up with that?

its confusing, before what we call 1st gens was the BlueBird Maxima, technically gen 0. 1st gens were still under the Datsun name but usually had Nissan badges as well so its confusing, as far as i care 1st gens are Maximas and its nice to say at least one gen was RWD
well technically its sh1ttingly confusing, i'll try to do cliffs
1st gens were made from '81-'84, American 1984 models had Datsun as well as Nissan badges on the back. 1981 you could either get the 810 Deluxe, or 810 Maxima, but for 1982-1984 it was just 810 Maxima, no Deluxe
1st gen pwn though, 2.4l L series straight 6 engine from 240z or 2.8l diesel L series straight 6. you can use parts from older Z's and ZX as well. ive seen one in person, as well as one for sale here.
