LOL... well it's easier to Supercharge a Camry than it is to Turbocharge a 3rd gen.

I'll make a list...but remember this is just for fun...and some are sarcastic...so please don't flame.

I'm using the 2k2 model year for comparison.

10. 6-speed option
9. 255 hp
8. HLSD option
7. nav option
6. one of the best sounding premium audio systems in the market
5. standard HIDs
4. rear-beam axle (read DaveB's post in the general forum for explanation)
3. standard V6
2. New camry: can we say UGLY. New accord: and this is exciting and differnt from last year how? New maxima: improves on an already great design
1. OK..which one sounds cooler, Accord, Camry or MAXIMA!

your car will least likely get stolen, if a car thief had a choice of a camry or accord, since those cars are the #1 rated car stolen in LOS ANgeles

Too many Asian people drive Camrys and Accords. I'd like to not follow the stereotype.

If you live on Long Island you do. Around where I live in Michigan Max's are a rare jewel. On Long Island they're almost a dime a dozen. They're all around.

yup, maxima is one of the only sub 30K cars you can get loaded and get a manual with a GREAT engine. Not just camry and accord, but GTP and others. (TL-S)

How are they not in the same class? All have similar power, size, price, styling, etc. They all compete directly against each other. The only thing the Maxima has going for it is the engine. Not more powerful, but smoother. Other than that, the Maxima doesn't have a whole lot going for it. Inferior fit and finish to the other two, cheaper suspension, etc.

Weren't 4th Gen Maximas the best selling import V6 sedan for a while when they were on fire sale just before the 5th Gen's came out? I see far more 4th/5th Gen Maximas than I see V6 Accords or Camrys.

The only reason you can get a Max loaded for under 30K is b/c of the manual. A GLE w/ sunroof, traction control, and side airbags(all standard on TL-S) lists for $29,485.00. The TL-S lists for $31,710.00 and has a better warranty, heated front seats, 4 wheel independent suspension, 5spd auto w/ sport shift, and luxury brand customer service. To get the luxury nameplate w/ you gotta go Infiniti and with a equally equipped I35 (except the extra sunshade), you get a MSRP of $31,375.00. The Maxima is no longer the steal it once was. Its gotten more expensive and luxury laden w/ each year yet it still has a lot of economy features left. Take out Shadow's rear seat and you can actually see the ground since they left out some grommets.

As for the theft rate, Maximas are the most commonly stolen cars in NYC.

max has moved on

the altima has taken over the accord/camry race now. the max has moved on to the TLs and midrange euro sedans. which is good, i think the altima will do well against those cars its certianly faster. watch out though the accord is at the end of its life cycle time for a new one.

Not quite the same class apparently. Class determination usually comes down to what comes as standard equipment. In the case of the Accord and the Camry, both come standard with I4s, not V6s, and both STILL come with manual windows. The Maxima better compares to the Avalon and Diamante, than the Accord and Camry.

huh. how about the Maxima looks better, is faster, is more fun to drive, has much better standard features.... As for the 2k2, well, the HLSD and 6-speed are of course the better aspects. PLus it looks really nice!! The Acuras are a mish-mosh of blahse design.

I can agree with that. I think there are 6 Maxima in my high school parking lot. I have the best except for maybe the 2002 but at least I have the best looking.

No high school kid should be driving an '02. It just ain't right.

Plus that's not how you learn about the value of money. Whatever happened to working for something?

5th gen to 5th gen is just stupid. New camrys suck...If i was to chose i would take the max or altima hands down but when i bought my car there were only 4th gens so i can speak on that.

4th gen to 4th gen is only a maxima/camry race cause there are no 5 speed v6 4th gen accords (or 5 speed v6 accords period)

Personally i chose the 5 speed v6 camry, i regret it sometimes and sometimes i dont. Im happy with my car and it handles extremely well for a sedan with the mods i have (no more granny suspension or brakes)

**True.

8. White face gauges.

**Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

7. 190 HP, 205 Ft Lbs Tourque (torque)

**my cars got 194 hp 209 ft lbs of torque

6. Available with V6 5 speed

**I drive a 1999 V6 5 speed everyday and its a camry!

5. Shadow, Greg, Dan, and Cattman

**dunno these characters cept Cattman who only makes y-pipes for v6 camrys and nothing else.

4. Kick *** engine.

**true but the camrys v6 is no slouch.

3. Fun to drive.

**Opinion.

2. You can say things like – The Max, To the Max, Mad Max, Sexima, and, Want to Max in my Maxima?

Well, when I was in high school there weren't too many after school type jobs that paid enough to buy me a 26k car.

Legitimate jobs, that is...

I would tend to agree, but that's because I myself drove a beater while I was in high school. Driving a wreck, in my opinion, helps you to appreciate the car more, and not take it for granted. My 83 VW Quantum got me from A to B everytime. It never broke down. Well it overheated once. And it leaked oil. And the AC did not work. Then the waterpump leaked. The radiator was rusted out. In either case...I would not have given up that experience for the chance to drive a new Maxima during high school. That old car taught me how to maintain cars, and to develop a greater understanding of how cars works, and got the "gearhead" mentality engrained in me.

I got a Max in college when I saved up enough money through work and investments to buy a new car for myself.

Exactly. What does the 2k2 Max say about the kid with the S4? I can keep going. It's a big world, and life is unfair.

I'm 17 and earned every (well almost every) penny for mine. I do agree that it's wrong for a high school kid to get a $30,000 car that his/her parents pay for. I don't think you can respect how much your cars worth unless you've made the money yourself. If you want the ultimate example, theres a kid that got a brand new IS300 after totalling his mom's caddy and crashing his explorer.
