i have noticed two small dings on side of my door. would these DIY kits really work? im looking at DING KING or POPS a DENT. thanks for your help.

Ding King ive heard doesnt work, if youre good at bodywork yourself you can use a Bondo dent puller, and fill/paint the hole after.

i know some people use heat and ice with success

If you take a can of compressed air and spray while holding it upside down, it will come out insanely cold. Cold like Dry Ice cold. (Don't know why, but it does.) There are lots of video instructions on how to heat up a dent with a hair dryer, then freeze it with the compressed air, and POP!

It only works on certain kinds of small dents, and depends on the location of the dent.

As for PDR (paintless dent removal), the general rule of thumb is $100/ding.

The only reason I commented is that last week I fat-fingered a spray can of tire black from a high shelf in the garage. It fell edge first on the car and left a sizable ding in the arch on one of the doors. I feel like an idiot.

So now I'm looking for a good PDR specialist in the area, but before that I tried the hairdryer and compressed air trick. Sadly, it didn't do a thing for me.

Thanks for the sympathy. The self-inflicted wounds cut the deepest. So far:

• 1 ding in the passenger-side, rear-door arch.
• 1 ding in the passenger-side, lower rear-door; (an outty, too, which is weird.)
• 1 gouge in the side of the front bumper skin; (lawnmower incident.)
• A handful of chips on the hood.
• A front bumper skin that feels like sandpaper, it's so badly chipped.

Otherwise, super clean inside and out; no dents, no rust. Meticulous care taken, as much as an 8yr old daily-driver can get in the Northeast.

I'm weighing the value proposition of spending a grand on exterior paint/repair. Depending on your POV, it could be a serious waste of money. Currently undecided.

Your car looks very well taken care of by your sig. Ive never seen the sides/rear but I imagine its just as clean. Cant you find a better way to spend all that money? Oh yeah thats right you already have everything under the sun haha.

I swear, those aforementioned little imperfections are SCREAMING AT ME everytime I approach the car. So I relate to the OP's need to address dings.

I think I have a problem.

I used the Ding King on my old car and it worked pretty well but def. wasn't perfect...I think when it comes down to it, nothing will replace quality bodywork.

Oh and Rochester, I've seen pictures of your car before and lemme tell you....my heart bleeds for you. Really. It does. If youre gonna be at Maxus on Saturday, I'll show you my car. You will feel ALOT better about your's. LOL.

I don't think I have a panel that doesnt need some form of bodywork.

I have small dimple marks all abouts my maxima from hail stones i believe.

Worked twice on my BMW. I've talked to the guy and he said German metal is easy to fix, it is flexible and the jobs come out perfectly in many cases.

I did try it with the Maxima once, and it was a total failure. Not sure how much is attributable to the metal, as the ding was closer to the edge. But one on the BMW was in the lower front corner of the door--amazing they got that out.

around $150 for 6 dents. they were small. but i think it is typically $50 per panel.

get someone to fix it for you.
