Maxima saved my friend's life
Maxima saved my friend's life
this happened two years ago in December of '99 but she just told me about it tonight and she was in a maxima so i thought i'd share to praise the maxima's protection abilities
she got REALLY messed up so i didnt want to pry and keep asking questions but this is what she told me:
Some kid was street racing with someone else so he's going about 90 MPH. Christina (my friend) is making a right turn onto the road that the guys are racing on. She sees him but its dark and she can't tell that he isn't slowing down, plus his light is red. So, she thinks its alright to make her turn. She does but the kid going 90 goes through the red light and rear-ends her at around 90. Her car (a 4th gen Maxima) flips end-over-end. This is where I was afraid to ask exactly what her car did and how it ended up and all that so forgive me for lack of details. She broke her shoulder, her wrist, her leg, ruptured her liver AND her spleen and shattered her pelvis. Couldn't even get out of bed for 3 months. I knew she had a thing for Maximas but she says this is why she loves them so much. She doesn't think she'd be alive today if she wasn't in a Maxima.

Did the other car hit her on the driver's side door? I hope that stupid ******* who hit her is in jail now. Makes me scared now thinking what could happen if someone hits me going that fast. I feel safe in my Maxima. It seems very tough.
I hope your friend is doing ok though.

would that cause the maxima to flip
end over end? I just can't picture a car running into the back of a car going 90 and assume shes going about 10-15 after the turn, would cause the maxima to flip end over end; that is a crazy flip.

I heartily agree. Two weeks ago I was 40 miles north of San Antonio on a slightly wet I-35 going 70 in the middle lane when an 18-wheeler behind me decided he liked my lane better. As he spun me around his bumper pushed in the driver's door skin, then left me in the left lane going backwards looking right at him at around 10 o'clock. I cut the wheels to the left which started turning the front end back around to the right, hit the grass at a 45-degree angle and blitzed the sand barrels just within 3 feet of the concrete median. I shut the car off (yes), ripped off the trash pocket so I could open the door, and got out cussing the SOB. Not a scratch, but I had to say goodbye to my 93 SE. The impact didn't even get to the engine; all the cops were amazed. That car saved me from certain injury. It's onto a 2002 6-speed and I-35 is off limits.
