Car wont start when cold, please help!
OK, so, my car wont turn over when its cold out. It does the "err err err" thing without turning over. The battery is fine, its brand new. All I can do to get it started is pump on the gas. Then it shoots out a puff of smoke on me. When its warmed up, it starts fine, when the weather is warmer, its fine, but being all cold, I got nothing. All I can do is pump the gas to get it going. Once then, it runs fine, nothing Ill at all. So, what could it be? Bad starter? Low OIL pressure, low GAS pressure? Something else? If so, what can I do to fix this, without taking it in to a dealer to get it fixed, cause I dont really feel like paying them for it, unless I have to. The check engine light isnt on, so I dont know whats up. Please tell me what I can do to get this thing to start right. Remember, it wants to start, it just wont turn over. And the oil light kinda blinks at me when I start pumping the gas too if that means anything. And, Im not a car expert, so please leave detailed steps of what I can do please. Thanks for your info and help, I appreciate it big time!!

what do you mean its doing the err errr err thing? it is cranking but not starting? or not cranking at all?
usually a bad starter clicks and doesnt crank. Oil press should cause the motor not to start.

Its cranking yes, but not turning over. Its like it wants to start but never turns over. It just started happening in the last 3 weeks too but has progresivly gotten worse. Starter going bad? But that wouldnt make sense since it starts any other time, or would it? Like I said, I dont know much about the mechanical ends of cars....LOL. Thanks for the help!
Maybe you did not get the correct battery. When batteries are cold they do not put out as much cranking amps as when they do when they are warm. You should check your battery to see what kind of power it's putting out.
there is a bulletin on the max cranking but no starting-it has to do w/ grounds between eng & transmission--bad news is that the transmission would have to come out of the car. i guess what happens is that they get corroded so they don't cause good contact. now if ur max starts & stalls then thats a different problem so be specific. if that is the case then check ur aic valve--u may need a new valve---good luck

Ok, it just sits and tries to start but never actually starts. I dont know any other way to explain it. It goes like its gonna start but never does. I can get going now though on the 1st try, just gotta gas it to get it going, just a little gas, rise it to 2k rpm for a few secs, then its ok. I had good opportunities to test that today....lol. I dont know though, its just weird. We will see what happens when it REALLY gets cold this weekend!
Better order yourself an owners manual! There is an entire checklist to go through to fix that sort of problem. Easy as cake. www.automanualtrader.com is my personal favorite. Good luck!
