How much do you pay each year for car insurance?
The problem is that the he's paying $2,800 a year for FULL COVERAGE, not comp/collision. That amount includes the liability portion which greatly outweigh's the comp/collision part. He's paid nearly 6k in two years so that if he hits a Mercedes, or god forbid injurs someone, he's not on the line for $50,000 or up to $100,000 of damages. Until we know exactly what he pays specifically for comp and collision, it isn't really fair to assess whether or not he's paying too much.
to be honest with you bud....there is no such thing as FULL COVERAGE in the insurance world. (just a little FYI
)there is a dollar amount attached to anything you do do. there is no such thing as im covered for EVERYTHING. if you read your declarations page, there is a dollar amount for the amount of property damage you cause and the maximum amount the insurance company will pay out for your vehicle, and the one you just hit.
...an example would be the one you just pointed out. lets say you cause a 4 car accident with 6 people involved. liability damages (meaning medical are coming in at 130k...but your policy only goes to $50k or 100k as you previously stated...are you still fully covered???
the answer: of course not!
you are on the hook for everything else once the lawyers exhaust the funds from the insurance company. so if the balance left over from the damages you cause is 30k....they have the right to sue you in court for the remainder.
unfortuantely people dont read the fine print in their insurance policy and think that everything is fully insured.
im an insurance agent for Nationwide Insurance is someone out there is doubting what im talking about.
^^^^^^^^
this is a total misconception of the law. you cannot (i repeat) cannot FORCE an insurance company to add an additional loss on top of the loss they already are taking on the car.
say example the damge on you car is 6k and the car is worth 3k.
...with your statement you are saying: "i dont care, i want the insurance company to payout an additional 3K to fix my car!"
the law is made to protect you from being scammed by the insurance company so that you are paid out top dollar on the car god forbid its totaled out....but it does not force an insurance company to take an additional loss ON TOP of a loss. if you give me the name of your insurance company i can verify this for you.

Doughboy has high limits (100k/300k) because I'm his father and don't want to support his *** forever if he's in an accident above low limits. i.e. 25/50 is the required in WA.
Good thing there's not too many 50k cars on the road....
And you're right, you can request repairs up to the value of the vehicle in WA but no insurance company is going to pay more than that when they don't have to.

On a single case basis, who wouldn't? The severity of accidents due to impaired drivers is on average higher than those that are due to inattentive driving. Impaired drivers tend to speed up, and inattentive drivers tend to slow down.
However, the frequency of inattentive driving accidents is leaps and bounds higher than that of impaired driving accidents. From an insurance standpoint, it's far more of a problem. Someone who's in an accident due to inattentive driving is much more likely to be a "repeat offender" than an impaired driver. Driving while intoxicated tends to leave people feeling shameful or uneasy afterword due to the implications, but people have pride for their "driving ability" when they can get dressed, have breakfast, shave, put on makeup, and catchup on their daily gossip while commuting to work. All the while they're a huge liability and the main cause of accidents.

I'll take the low speed inattentive hits if I have to take anything at all.

Seriously, this rambling has nothing to do with the point I made. While nothing you've so willfully pointed out here is inaccurate, it's in response to my point that the total premium a person pays for their car insurance should not be determined solely by the value of their vehicle, as YOU implied it should be with the post I referenced in my last response.
So, that said, you can keep your condescension to yourself. The term "full coverage" is loosely used to describe the election to insure with all available lines of coverage instead of just those required by law (generally speaking, liability). Your personal gripes with the implications of the term don't particularly interest me. Your status as an insurance agent does hold some qualifying weight on these statements, but I wouldn't be so quick to condescend everyone in lieu of it.
And my name isn't "bud".
i'm about to switch insurance companies

i got a quote from Allstate..
Allstate @ $411/6 months

And apparently one DUI wasn't enough of a learning lesson, you picked up a second one. The 5k/year is meant as a deterrent to keep you off the road and/or a lesson to not drink and drive. If you kill someone under the influence or hurt someone badly, the insurance will have to pay out the a$$ for you. Your 5k/year seems fair to me.
Under my dad's policy. We have a 2005 Honda Odyssey which he drives under his policy. But for just my Max I would estimate at around 500-600 every 6 months. Im also a 19 yr old male so I believe thats very reasonable. We use all state insurance. Thats full coverage also since I leased the Maxima.

I am paying $290/mo with Progressive
It includes my younger brother and myself as well as both of our cars, my 2006 maxima, his 2006 Altima. I could be paying about 100/month on my own with State Farm but my bros screwed himself with tickets so I am helpin him out right now

(state farm) i live in jersey under my mother name with full coverage 3216 a year ,268 month with student discount, one speeding ticket, state farm forgives you for your first two point, i think im paying way to much but ****kkk it i need to drive my damn car (2000 nissan maxima se)
well as of right now I pay $38 a month, thats with out uninsured (state of NM doesn't allow just storage when I had my policy in MN it was $5 for just storage) when I'm able to drive again it usually runs about $50 a month for just me a 35 male on a 85 SE. I have kept my policy open while my DL is under suspension (was eligible for reinstatement 2 years ago) to keep from having to pay high risk for the first 6 months and keep all my discounts, that I have built up over the years. Policy is with Progressive.
Im paying 3100 a year for my 91 max and my 03 max, hopeing to change my 91 max to historical tags so itll cut my insurance down to 2100 a year
, my 2 tickets and my age arnt helping me at all :x

How much you pay for coverage really depends on where you stay, your age, your driving record, and your gender...males under 25 usually have higher premiums. I pay just under 400 for six months of full coverage which is quite low compared to many of the posts here and I'm only 23...key thing is to not over insure yourself paying for stuff you don't need. Please don't pay more over a year than your car is worth...I've seen this alot.
