Doing my "every 30k." Apexi air filters? Transaxle fluid & coolant recommendations?
Doing my "every 30k." Apexi air filters? Transaxle fluid & coolant recommendations?
I'm looking at doing my "every 30k" work myself for the first time for my faithful, bone-stock, 4th gen max (98 SE automatic).
No problems right now, thought I do have "that sound" when I turn the wheels full lock. I guess it could be referred to as a moan. Right now my ignoramus approach is to simply avoid turning that tight.
- Air Filter. I'm Just curious -- How much better is the Apexi air filter over, say, a Purolator filter? I've decided to not go the K&N lifetime filter route. The oil vs mass airflow sensor is a problem I'd like to avoid for now.
- Automatic transaxle fluid. Any recommendations?
- Coolant. I'm assuming coolant is cooltant, nothing to get picky about?
- Fuel Filter. Any recommendations? This I may have done professionally.

Pick up a FRAM air filter at Walmart for 4 bucks.
AMSOIL makes fantastic automatic tranny fluid, I've been running it for years.
Coolant, use the pre mix, I like Prestone
Fuel Filter - Nappa, Autozone, hell maybe even Walmart.

yes, it's for a supra, but it's an interesting read.
amsoil, royal purple, any real brand of lubricants should have a great result.
don't go cheap, and don't use tap water. prestone 50/50 is available anywhere (or prestone 100%, and distilled water). don't use straight antifreeze.
so far, nobody has shown a significant difference in fuel filters. as long as it catches the crusties that get pas the fuel pump sock, it will be fine.
