14.44@95 - auto 2k2!

As far as I know, the theBlue never made any runs completely bonestock. I believe his 14.7 run was with a catback and intake. Then he got the Y-pipe and ran 14.5s. Then the weahter got nice a cold, he pulled out his seats and ran a 14.2 something.

dmb ran 14.3 in his 6 speed and this is the first manual car he's ever owned, right? pure driving experience can knock some time off of that.
about corrected times...the colder the air the faster the time right? but the higher the altitude, the faster the time? i dont know anything about this so ill believe whatever you tell me but logically i think it would be, higher altitude = faster time. the air is thinner up high. any baseball fans know the arguement that the Colorado Rockies have an advantage because their stadium is so much higher than others and the ball travels futher more easily. wouldnt it be the same for a car?

I have driven the 02 6 speed, and I think its entirely possible to run a 13.9 at a lower elevation track.
I ran a 14.715 with a stock 97 5 speed SE, and the 02 feels SO much faster!!
I expect that we will see a 13.9 second pass eventually.

Like I have stated before, 14.2 is about the best you can hope for. I was directly behind you at the track Steve, and you had about the best launch you could have, so I really don't see where you can gain more than about .1 to .2 seconds.

As for a 13.9 in a 02. It's very possible with an intake, some smaller drag radials, sea level track, cold weather, and a brutal launch. Would it happen often? No way. Maybe one guy in this org will do it. The car does have the potential. Actually, any carthat can get 95mph in the 1/4 mile is capable of a 13.9 with a very hard launch (assuming you hook up). Will most 6 speed 02s be in the mid to upper 14s when spring and summer come around? Certainly. I think many people don't realize how much of an influence cold weather and low humidity plays in the performance of a relatively high compression motor like the VQ. For every 20 degree increase in temp and humidity (over 50 degrees), I've seen roughly a .15-.2 increase in et and -1mph in trap speed.

I know the temp does affect your times pretty noticably.
I believe the temp was 55-60 degrees when I ran the 14.715. The track elevation is around 500 feet.
I have also found that the gas I am running, even from station to station, affects the performance a bit. Even though I am running 93 octane.

yup i'd say about a 14.2 on a cold day like i had. i launched the car almost perfect. i could get the 60ft down maybe to 2.0X's with the tires iom getting in the spring but that's about it. hold the shift longer will get higher trap speeds and maybe a 14.2

It always annoys me when guys say, "oh, but I had 80lbs of tools in my truck that I was too lazy to remove." Well tough sheeoot, you ran what you ran. Some things are within your control when racing at the track. You can remove weight, adjust tire pressure, ice the intake, etc. Don't make excuses.

Actually it's the most unused and apparently, the tranny problem is non existent to them. I'm in a huge debate with "Mike" The moderator over at over Acura.com forums. It seems everyone gets very testie when you even bring it up.

I am extremely impressed. Be careful with adding mods as the tranny will slip quickly over time and you'll wish you had your stock times. Also when you have more than 1 passenger refrain from back-back gunning it toi prolong tranny life. Finally, drop front tires pressures to 26psi in the front (will equil. to 24 psi by the time your make your run) and 47psi (will equil to 44psi). You will likely drop you 60 foots to the 2.10 range and considering where you are now you will shave another 0.15 seconds or be at 14.2s (stock LT1 automatic Z28 range!). Let me know...

- 10/97 High Performance Pontiac: dad's stock 1996 Bonneville SE supercharged (only 3 years when the base model could get the S/C motor) ran 14.525@94.1 mph on 2.09 60 foot (stock tires) and full tank pump 93 octane.

OK - I don't have a scanner so I'm ripping off Ben's (mzmtg) timeslip when we raced and I ran a 14.50:

BTW, he circled his 15.27, but I am "Gold" on the left.

yup .9's are a little slow but it was my first time dragging a stick and i was concerned about hooking up. in my old car i got consistent .5's and .6's but it was an auto.
