got whooped by a friggin CAVALIER...

ok first off, i have beaten a handful of cavaliers. 5spd z-24s new and old as well as z-34s so i don't know what happened. this guys has a 99 or 00' cavalier 4 cyl. muffler and 5spd THATS IT. i got my **** handed to me on a friggin plate and i don't know why. me and 2 buddies were in myy car so one of my friends rode with him to even it up. he got me from the start each time and walked me to 110 where his gov. kicked in. i was soooooo ****ed. now to my question....

on the way to where we raced i noticed that my car felt funny and it stills feels funny right now. the clutch pedal is realy squishy and easy to push down and so is the gas pedal. any ideas as to what the problem could be? i've had the squishy gas pedal before but after awhile it would go away and get firm again. it makes driving REALLY awkward. help me please!!!

Even with a broken manifold you should have walked him.

Check your throttle linkage, it's proly loose.

That has to be the worst loss that I've ever heard
I've only raced one ever, it was at the track. It was a Z24 5spd with CAI and exhaust. He ran a 17.1 and even though he got the jump on me, I smoked him.

Is it time for a tune up ? If I were you, just save the time and take it to Nissan for a free evaluation. Then go home and fix that bird to make it a Maxima again.

Z-34s are Luminas, not Cavaliers. Sporty Cavaliers have always been known as the Z-24.

If the guy was stock there must be something wrong with your car to lose to one of those slow pieces of crap.

Look for the throttle body, it is at he beginning of the intake manifold. Do you small metal cables that are attached to it? Look for the one that DOES NOT go back towards the firewall, with a black ball attached to it. You are looking for the other one. Attahced to a bracket should be two nuts. These should both be tight, along with the cable. If the cable is loose (meaning you could push on it more than about 1/8 inch without the spring moving), then the cable needs to be tightened. Take the nut that sits more towards the passenger side of the vehicle, loosen it just a little, then loosen the other bolt. Pull on the cable until it is tight, then tighten the nuts in the opposite sequence you loosened them. Recheck the car.

fahcue: i was just saying wtf about that site u posted cuz it was funny as shlt.

guitaraus: whasssup austin? yeah, didn't i mention something about that cavalier the other night? btw, my buddy and i are gonna head up to hooter's again saturday night in his 01' lightning to race some people. i'll be sure to give ya a ring! sorry that "party" was pretty much a sausage fest

DA-MAX: no f***ing kidding. i know i should have one. man i am soooo pi ssed about this cuz all my friends are giving me shlt too. i will have my revenge.

update: i was driving around today and i noticed that my intake was HELLA loud and my pedal felt even worse. so when i got home i took it off and saw that the seal was broken so i fixed it, replaced it, and now the car feels a little better but still like it's holding back. btw, i could only get to 120 on a straight that i ALWAYS hit at least 135 on; that shows you how much slower my car is.
