last night me and my friend with a 92 v6 camry whooped last night down the track even though i had a better launch then him and his car was bone stock as for me i have a 90 max gxe with a new exhaust and intake god i feel embarrased and this wasnt a small loss it was almost by a full car length

is there something wrong with my car or is it that those things are that fast

thanks,
Jaren

hmm

My friend has a 92 LE V6 auto and I beat him twice, it was pretty close but I started pulling away at the top of 2nd gear and into 3rd.. That was up to around 80 or 90.. However, I have a VE and you have the VG, stock V6 Camry's of those years have 185hp stock, compared to your 160 and my 190. I know those Camry's aren't slow, but I remember posts from VG owners who said they killed V6 Camry's..

Well.....

the auto V6's are kinda fast, more comparable to VE autos than VG autos, most likely .4-.5 seconds quicker. there was nothing for you to do, but accept the beating!

Nice!!!

looks like the third gen won't be going over any speed bumps anytime soon! The 2k Max with the Supra front looks really tight!! and speaking of front end swaps my boy from Florida called me the other day and told me he saw a Toyota 4Runner with a Lexus GS400(last year model) front end swap!!! he said it was a clean "fit" and actually looked decent! Crazy stuff!!!

Yo max, speaking of front end convos...you should see the new super street (or maybe it was last month's issue) where they have all the honda/acuras with s-15 silvia conversions my jaw dropped and I started laughing so damn hard in Wal Mart I caused a scene.

Beat A MUSTANG!!!

Hey guys. Well, I have a '91 SE and it is all stock (about to get a ton of upgrades/parts in a couple months). Anyways, last friday night I was driving down the highway with my friend. We casually look over and see some new Mustang (probably 97 or 98). My friend noticed the racing stickers and said it looked customized and jokingly said I should race him. He passed in front of us to the left lane and I got in the middle and slowly passed him. As we were passing both my friend and I looked at the guys in the mustang and they both looked back at us! All of us knew what was up and the guys in the mustang pulled behind us (I was already in front) and started tailgating me. I hit the gas and watched the road, but I saw the tach go up to about 5000 RPM and my Max lurched forward. I got it up to 115mph and there was quite a lot of traffic around. Now, on a plain, flat straight road with nothing in the way the mustang would definitely beat me. Though, Maximas handle really good so I was weaving back and forth, passing cars and then I got ahead of everyone to where there were no cars around me. I glanced back in the rearview expecting the mustang to be right behind me but he was a few 100ft away!!! No BS! Maybe it was good, quick handling but, I BEAT HIM! All I know is that felt really good because I absolutely despise ANY newer Mustangs. The only Mustangs I love are the classics of course! New ones can't even compare to those. Oh, and no this is not any BS. I am positive that I would have been able to keep up with the Mustang even had he been beating me. Though, with cars nearby and my car probably handling much better than his (new mustangs are a lot heavier than Maximas I think) it was just luck ,but cool none the less.

Yeah, I've got a 91 Max and my freind was out in his moms '94 Camry V6 and we raced, but I beat him pretty good, I am guessing the manual makes the difference there.
