Quick question on insurance stuff

Alright, I just got my appraisal in the mail today and, excluding the rear damage to the bumper, the estimate was at $540 which is to clean and inspect the exhaust system and replace both my muffler and resonator. Now Im wondering if I can purchase a catback system, probably the Apexi and a y-pipe, probably greddy and have the shop install these things for free. By free I mean will my insurance still cover the installation even tho its not OEM parts? Does my insurance agency even have to know that Im not installing OEM parts? Probably not, but basically what Im trying to do is get these parts installed and still have insurance pay the $540 and then I will make up the difference.
Insurance crap is freakin confusing to me. Thanks ahead.

insurance will just put your car back to the same condition it was before. Even if it is cheaper to go with "better" parts they will not do it. If you want to do that ask for a cash settlement. They will give you cash based on estimates you get. Then you can spend the money on anything.

good luck,

If your insurance appraiser quoted the company $540 dollars of damage, then that is what you will get. The insurance company is just going to cut you a check for $540 and you do what you want with it. They don't car whether or not you get aftermarket, since the money is now yours.
