Is this a good deal?

So my wifes car got repoed the other day (****ty as 4banger grand am) and I was looking for sumthing cheap, run across 2 maximas. A 98 green with 150K for $2600 and a 2000 with 230K for $2750. The 98 never gave me a call back to so I choose to look at the 2000, has sum rust around the rear wheels and that's all I can tell. Clean inside and it starts rite up, drove it and it rides smooth so I talked the guy down to 2300. Is this a deal or am I payin too much

it would be in your best interest to have a mechanic inspect it once again..i'd say 2300 seems fair for a '00

i would try to stay away from cars with that many miles on them but if it was taken care of and mostly highway miles(less startups) then it could last for a while. I would at least do compression check on the engine. I would say probably 2k would be a good price

If you note, he talked him down to $2300...

It's a lot of miles, and I would look away, but it's still a fair price for what he's getting. Especially if everthing seems to run good...

I'd still walk away. At 230K there is a lot of parts that are at the end of their service life. Not to mention 2000 wasn't exactly one of the best years for the Maxima.

well i paid 2975$ for my 2001 se 20th anniversary.
it has 222 000 kilometers and runs very fine... well maintain vehicle
so i don't think your overpaying and neither that its a bad idea

go for it man. worths it easily
here in canada these maxima are easy 2500+ they never go down that low to 2300 or its because they are ****ty vehicle that ppl din't take care of and alot of things to repair.

if the appearance is ok no bumper cracked or niether alot of rust its a good deal of course.

but here in canada if you search for 00+ maxima under 3k you get absolutly nothing sir. so depending on where hes located id say its very affordable and worth it obviously anytime.

Apples and Oranges:

222K Km is 138,000 miles. We're talking about 230K Mi which roughly equates to 370,000 Km. Just needed to put this into perspective for those of you that have a proper system of weights and measurements.

That car is worth 3200 but the dealer wants 10K for it, no sir i will not pay for that.

Now on that maxima, the guy said he would put the car up so no1 else would buy and he gave me the info to switch my insurance over. Next day he calls saying sum1 is willing to pay 2650 so i said let them get it, what an *******
