22,700 for new SE (auto)

I think it's a reasonable price, unfortunately it's an auto. Not as cheap as the 4th gens were going for but still, about $3400 off list. Not a bad way to step into 255 hp, eh?

man it seems like people are getting crazy deals on 2k2 autos. maybe its the whole year end, we want them off the lot thing. 6 speeds take a whole lot more money and a whole lot more waiting. not fair.

I wouldn't say unfortunately its an auto. One just ran 14.4 in the 1/4.

It's true, it's true, so sad, so sad, it's just all, a marketing ad.

very true, very sad, yet very illegal. my dealership (actually soon to be my ex-dealership)got busted by 20/20 or something for doing that crap all the time on purpose. advetising a car that they never had then saying "oh we sold it but we have this..."

Premium Nissan in New Rochelle, NY did the same thing. 22,900 for an auto SE. Hmm... do I want another auto?

Well my experience with those ads was in late 1997, you all remember, the Maxima for 18,995 routine (it would go down yet another 2 grand believe it or not!). I asked the guy can I buy this car, he said sure, there are 2 available but you have to pick it up on Monday (in 2 days).

Notice there is a stock number, and the ad will run again next week with another stock number. Dealers cannot advertise cars that don't exist, and if brought to bear, they have to show that the car was in fact available and sold. If you really want that price you can get it anywhere from PA, NJ, NY, CT. You cannot get any additional options which is a psychological thing. Most people figure if they're spending 22k on a car, they need to have fake leather and moonroof etc. Before they know it the list is around 29k and the discount has shrunk.

I think if you really like the 2002--it's gonna be cheap in May/June and that 255 hp isn't going anywhere, it'll still be sweet!
