White spark plug tip?
White spark plug tip?
I changed out my plugs today, and all looked good, well, not good but used, darkish brown, but one of them was white, like really light in color. My guess is that cylinder is running lean, why only one cylinder? Could a bad injector be the culprit?
Any blistering? If so, Blistered white insulator, eroded electrode and absence of deposits could mean cylinder was too hot. You can check for a sticky valve or a intake manifold leak. You might want to check your coolant level and radiator for clogs - although I doubt this would cause only one plug to go bad. Just some suggestions.
yeah, it's got the blisters and stuff, but why only one cylinder? Weird, I checked for coolant leaks, and it'll leak once in a while, but again, only one cylinder? I'm going to pop that injector and soak it in a super sonic cleaner with fuel injector cleaner and see if that works........
It sounds like that cylinder is definately running lean. I think the most likely problem is the injector or the wiring to it. Before you remove the injectors, check to hear if that injector is clicking. As DBM as stated so many times, you can use a 3' length of vacuum hose as a stethascope (sp?) to do this.
The FSM suggests that you remove the fuel rail, leave the injectors attached to it, place a pan under the injectors and turn the ignition on for a few seconds. You should be able to see if the injectors are spraying properly.
