How to wire up aftermarket steering wheel horn button?
I bought a Sparco wheel off a member here but haven't been able to think of a way to get the horn to work. I'm not using the quick release, which I believe is what he used to complete the circuit for the horn.
IIRC, I have to get the green wire with the yellow strip from under the steering column and run that to one of the terminals on the horn and run a ground wire to the other terminal. The problem then becomes running a ground wire that will rotate with the wheel and not get tangled or break. The previous owner said he used the copper strip on the column and made a little dent in it and put a steel ball between the steering column and the wheel adapter, but I can't really picture it in my head. How would the ball stay in place? And how would the green/yellow not become twisted or break when I turn the wheel?
This is probably incredibly simple, but I just don't get it.

The adapters for the Grant wheels I've had came with a plastic piece with a copper track. The column has a brush that contacts it. One wire connects the switch to the copper track, the ground is through the adapter and shaft, no need for more than a 1 inch wire connecting the switch to the wheel.

Sounds like the Max has the track in the column. The proper adapter should have the brush that will make contact with the track. What wheel do you have? If its a 5 bolt pattern with countersunk holes, the grant billet adapters might work and would look good.
