2k2 $600 over invoice?
2k2 $600 over invoice?
I thought I was going to keep my 99 but this sounds like a pretty decent deal. The car is a tungsten blue automatic. It has every option but leather and auto climate control. The price would be 26.3K. My wife doesn't like the leather in my 99 anyway and the auto climate control sometimes seems to have a mind of its own. I would be one of the very few here to give up a 5spd for an automatic. I dealt directly with the general manager who was a pretty nice guy as far as car salesmen go. He showed me invoice as well as dealer holdback which would be $759 for this car. He offered to throw in a new sunroof deflector and possibly body colored mud flaps. They would be giving me 16.3k for my 99 SE-L loaded with 23k miles. This seemed reasonable to me. What do you guys think. I am weak.

Sounds like a good deal to me. If the car has all the options you ever want. Personally, I couldn't live without auto climate control.

Just for your reference, after my mom liked my 2k2 so much she decided to get one as well.
It's a 2k2 Sterling Mist SE (base model), only option was the sunroof. Sticker on it was approximately $26,700. The dealer gave us a $1500 discount + the $500 cashback from Nissan. Total discount of $2000.
Price paid for the car came up to $24,600+ TTL. Edmund.com's TMV (what you should pay, usually a hundred or so over invoice) is at $23902 for the base SE. Add around $680 (invoice) to that for the sunroof.
So, if you look at it, we basically just paid $18 over invoice.

Eric,
That sounds like a good deal. I think your trade in allowance is very high. Push for the free mud flaps and a sunroof deflector. FYI: all US imported Maximas come with standard "port installed options" including colored mud flaps and a sunroof deflector (if the car has a sunroof). What this means is you are getting these items whether you like it or not. I always found this to be upsetting because Nissan is forcing these items down your throat. I would argue with the salesman that you do not want these items because he can't sell the car w/o them. Either way you are getting a good deal. I know some people have purchased 2k2s for invoice but don't forget they are being generous with your trade.

Not A Bad Price Congrats!
Eric,
I think you got a great deal. I ordered my 2k2 Majestic Blue SE the day after Thanksgiving. I got all the options, Navigation System, Leather, Traction Control, Side Air Bags, Bose CD/w Cassette, Meridian Pkg., Painted Mud Flaps (4), Sun Roof, Wind Deflector, and of course Carpets. The car invoices for $29,234 and finally settled on $29,530 plus TTL. Only $296 over invoice so I don't think I did too bad myself either. Anyways, enjoy the car and remember beware of the hiddeous Paint Monster
