Cutting Struts to fit Rim?

Hey there guys and Gals, Long time 2 years. Haven't been on here. How has everyone been doing? I missed the community. Ya'll been like family to me, And hello to all the newest members here. Been hectic at my jobs, economy been down, and of course I have been looking for work. With that being said, I hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of the 2012 New Year!

Ok, onto the actual question. My friend wanted to cut away at his strut tower im assuming to accommodate a larger width tire? He notices one edge of the tire actually being eaten away by some chunk of metal, im guessing part of his setup. He currently has 19" rims, I dunno what size tire yet, as I am still waiting for him to text me back. But do you think its a wise idea for him to cut and weld it back together? I heard of this being done on Dodge Magnums to fit 28" rims, but never on a maxima. Since I dont own one anymore, I dunno what to tell him. Your input on this?

I'm guessing eBay sleeves on stock struts?

^^^ This is the problem, not his wheels/tires.

Correct that and his problem will go away.

Sounds like he either needs to raise the car or get wheels that have a lower offset on them.

problem solved. He raised it liek you said, and got some slightly smaller wheels, andhe's all good. But he is kinda mad he had to trade his rims. LOL
