lol is that why you put the picture of the guy walking through the door then walking out, no way on gods green earth i would put a stick on hood scoop. i wanted a fully functional scoop. i mean a factory hood scoop would have the scoop connected to the air box once its closed but i worked with what i had plus the air flow is directed rite around the cone. only thing im working on now is some kind of plug to keep rain out. i will post a picture once i make one.

LOL yes it is. With some of the threads noobs have been posting lately, i could only imagine what was coming from this one. But, you proved me wrong. Nice work (except for the purple grill IMO)...In for better pics though.

Not my bag of chips but to each their own. At least it's functional. I rock hood spacers and get crap for it all the time, kinda acts the same way as scoop but with a cowl induction instead of a scoop induction.

Why not just invest in a carbon fiber hood? With all the time, money, labour, and material it would cost you why not just get the CF hood that already have the hood scoop?

who sells said hood? The only CF hood I know of for a 4th gen is the OE style. There is a "GTR" hood that a company sells "supposedly" but they can not provide a picture of the hood

I considered a carbon fiber hood but I never saw one either with a scoop, plus the hood came off my parts car and the scoop was 15$ off eBay, adhesive 4$, rubber striping 2$ , and Wally world supplied the 4 cans of black paint 96 cents a piece. Took longer for everything to dry than to build.

Nice work. Personally, i'm a bigger fan of naca ducts. Just be careful with it in the rain, since the filter is right underneath it.

This will do the trick for solving your water concerns.

The professionals with the g35s with the supercharged titan motors in them use these when they are making runs in the rain.

Hood spacers mess with the way the motor is meant to cool and draw and disperse hot air. No effect, yet looks cool

did you use the excess hood sheet metal to bend down into make shift "heat shields"? Thats actually pretty pimp. I kinda like the offset scoop. but yeah Purple? gotta question you on that one B. but yeah looks good, and seems like a good idea for getting cooler air to Short Rams.

yes i did just use the excess sheet metal, i had it all planned out in my head and worked out good. next thing i want to do is fabricate sheet metal inside the engine bay to surround the cone so when you close the hood the only place the air is going is to the cone. the purple is to match my wheels i will get a picture up soon

Hood spacers were always more of a Honda fad. Pretty much it's just an acrylic bolt spacer that you put between the hood and the hinge. Then you use the longer bolt to bolt the hood down with. Some like it some don't. Mine actually serves a legitimate functional purpose. My Radiator is aftermarket and for some reason doesn't sit low enough for the hood to latch closed when it's seated normally. Adding the spacers gave more headroom for the hood to latch over the radiator.

Some will argue that it doesn't actually help "cool" the motor and can actually increase temps. From my own personal testing with digital thermometers when compared with a normally mounted hood, it actually does keep my motor cooler. Intake manifold temps were reduced by as much as 10deg. The air flowing into my pop charge intake was reduced as well. The temps also drop the faster you travel. Even at idle on a hot summer day I could see the hot air flowing out from the spaced hood. Regardless of who argues, I've done my own testing and it's showed a difference. Even if it's not a HUGE difference, it is still better. Plus the look has grown on me over the months.

Wow looks cool! I was watching -Modern Marvels- on TV the other day and it was on American Muscle cars.... funny this is they left out the Camaro and Vette, but hey thats not the point. They were talking about how on the Pontiac GTO and how the Hood scoops on it were actually non functionally and how the placement for the scoops were in the WORST place possible since the air went right over them. After seeing that I kind of think its cool now to have little tasteful ones on it as opposed to huge sticks on. But yours looks real sick.

Did you make a plug for the scoop yet? That way, if you're caught in the rain, or if you want to wash your car, you don't have to worry about your filter getting drenched.

I haven't made a plug yet or even ordered a AEM dry flow cover but thats because I don't drive it in the rain and when I wash it I put a plastic bag over the intake. My dumbass forgot to take the bag off one time and the cone sucked it's self together lol. The plug I really want to do but I haven't had any good ideas on what kind of material I should use.

Just because you don't drive in the rain doesn't mean you won't get caught in it. If you live in a dry area that helps.

The dry flow cover does sound like a good idea.

I really do need to order the dry flow asap because i have lucked out by not getting caught up in any rain while driving. Plus the member by the name Schulte introduced me to the aem dry flow and told me that the dry flow cover was used in the pouring rain and worked great so I might not even need to make a plug for the scoop.

I had this chick dump her scoop of rum raisin on my hood, if that counts. Gotta say, it was not a good look. The florida heat didn't help my case either. I guess it took attention away from the pigeon poop.. scoop.
