O2 sensor extention
O2 sensor extention
Not sure if this thread would benefit anyone but i'm gonna share it anyways. I've recently done an altima headers in a maxima but the O2 sensor was too short and needed to be extended to use. I improvised and instead of getting single wires I use old OBD2 O2 sensors, luckily my neighbour works for a SAAB dealership so I got some long ones.
List of parts and tools I used.
1.40 and 32 inch O2 sensor (4 wires)black,grey and two white
2.Measuring tape
3.Heat gun or lighter
4.Snippers
5.Shrink wrap

First I measured the lenght of the O2 sensor adapter to the port.
Cut colour one by one, I started with the grey first. Insert the wire through the shrink wrap, twist the wire with a pliers, then slide the shrink wrap over the wire then heat it up with your lighter or heat gun. Remember every wire you cut join one side and then go join the other side to prevent cross wiring them. Wrap every wire individually and repeat this step for each wire. Wrap again with electric tape if desired.

After you have individually double wrap the wires with electrical tape ensure there is no loose wire and then wrap it again. I had a heat proof sleeve so protecting the wire was easy. Wrap again with electrical tape if desired.

It was very simple but also time consuming. Took me about two or more hrs to get done. Had to cut and join 16 wires and it was a good experience. Hope this thread is useful for those who needs to extend their O2 sensor wire. I've never done this before so anyone can do it.

going back to what you said about cross wiring, what would happen if you actually cross wired the two white wires?
Reason why I ask is because I installed a universal o2 sensor to work along with my simulators and I think I messed up somewhere with the wiring. The CEL hasn't come back on after resetting but two sensors still come up as not ready when i try to get a state inspection. I think 500+ miles of driving(both city and hwy) is more than enough for the drive cycle to run by now.

Sounds like you might have a defective O2 sensor man. The white wires don't matter, you can crosswire those. But the black and grey wires must colour be right. Maybe one of the seniors who's done this mod before might be able to answer your question. Oh sick rims by the way. I wish I could score me those 370Z wheels.
There are a bunch of things am confused about but I don't wanna derail your thread with random questions.
The wheels that you see in the sig are actually p.s'ed
Lmfao man. That looks ligit. But I wished I could of helped you but I just started learning about the VQ's and I don't know too much about codes. I'm sure mine has mad codes since my MAF sensor started acting up and I installed the headers and haven't installed the O2 sensors. Still got the spark plugs,PCV valve, spacers, and I gotta do a seafoam and a oilchange.
