Random Tech Cat Convertor Opinions. . . .

Will the RT Cat Convertor show any real gains? If so low mid or high end gains? Any added sound? All opinions welcome. Thanks

if you need a cat, get one. or if your just crazy like me, get a test pipe or gut your stock one. no gains in an RT cat.

No gains whatsoever.

I had my R/T cat in then i gutted it. Gutted / non-gutted R/T cat made no power that i was able to notice.

IMO extremely overpriced, get a carsound cat or high flow cat from summit racing if you really want a "performance" cat, gaines will be very minimal high end.........

I think it depends on the vehicle as well. I picked up a decent amount of power going to the 3" Random Tech cat in my '85 Monte SS over the stock replacement Catco 2.5". Of course, we're talking about my home-built V8 that's making around 270 flywheel hp (based on 3600 lbs, and 15.0 @ 93mph quarter mile pass). She really should be in the 14s, but I have to figure out a way to launch it without spinning the tires.

A full cat will also help to build torque, which is what these cars really need. A friend of mine dynoed his '95 Impala SS with stock dual cats, and then with test-pipes in place of the cats. His car made the same HP, but lost about 5-10 ft/lbs of torque throughout the RPM range.
