Auto climate people- Auto or Econ in cold weather?

I was just wondering, I usually have it on Econ, unless it's raining- i.e. fogged up windows. Also when its cold does everyone elses A/C compressor run when it's on Auto? Mine usually does, but when it's really cold (like 15-20) it stays off.

Correct, use Econ unless you need dehumidifying.

I just turn on the fan and press which vents I want them to come out of. I never use ECON or AUTO in the winter.

auto uses the a/c compressor, econ was made for winter time because the a/c compressor does not come on because it is not needed.

I never use Econ I always use manual. The system never seems to know what fan speed to use.

Right now, I'm using ECON unless my windows are fogged up, in which case I might use AUTO (although it doesn't necessarily guarantee AC use) or just hit the defog button and then the AC works for sure.

Also remember to run the AC once in a while to keep the refrigerant okay and keep the AC system from rusting (internally).

And YES, I DO have Automatic Climate Control on my 92 SE!

ECON when it's cold outside. Auto when I need A/C or in any kind of wet weather. AUTO keeps the windows from fogging up by running the A/C compressor and dehumidifying the air as it comes in.

I had Auto AC on my 1992 GXE, it even had heated mirrors, Auto ac in a 3rd gen is very rare from what I hear. Oh yea and I have it in my 1997 too, but I never control it cause the girlfriend gets to cold, so she is allways using manuel

Heh, well I only mentioned it because Auto Climate was never an option on 3rd Gen SEs..... at least, on US models!

I just use the manual button to direct which vents the air comes out and then change the fan speed accordingly.
