I have a 2001 maxima with a bad 3.0 motor and a crashed 1998 with a good motor, 3.0.

will i need adapter plate for tranny? will this work?

 

Wow... ive heard of a 4th gen swappin to dek engine...but NEVER a dek to a de.... thats a step bakwards...

 

You wanna put the 98 motor in the 01?

Don't do it.

The 01 has the variable intake and a few other features which give it moar powah! and you may have issues with the emissions equipment as well...fed spec vs cali.

Get a new 00 or 01 motor for direct bolt on.

Or do a 3.5 swap from a 02 or up.

 

ya, i know a step back, but it is my daughters car that she wrecked, and we have a working 98...

will it cost me more in time and adapters to do this than to pick up an 01?

 

also... we dont have emissions were i live...

 

You'll get a 00 or 01 with less miles...

 

You gotta do what you can with what you have, I understand this all to well. I have never swapped motors in a max. That said, I imagine you could swap your manifolds, rear valve cover and emissions stuff to the 98 motor and drop it in. Post in the all motor section for specifics regarding sensors and compatibility. Basically an 00vi swap dropped into a 5th gen.
