From Caddy to Maxi

Hey guys!

just chiming in this forum as i am a proud owner of a "new" 2000 Maxima GLE!!

I've been riding in my big ol' Cadillac DTS 2001 and it has given me nothing but headaches in the past 2 years (sold the 22inch rims since the suspension & direction broke because of them). So after the head gasket blew on this engine i was stranded and needed something to roll with.

I fell on this 2000 Maxima GLE 120 000km for 3 000$. Honestly it was the first time i ever drove a japanese car (always owned americans) and I feel just so great driving this car!!! Who though it would've been so much fun to speed in the curves and not worry about a little noise costing you XXXX$ !! This is the road i shouldve taken years ago!

Glad to be part of the family, pictures to come soon and you guys can suggest some nice mods for me to throw on this new Maxi

Cheers

Welcome! Maximas are great cars. They offer a good balance of performance while at the same time maintaining their practicality...

yea been seeing way too many nice videos on here not to do the mod real soon the sound of the cattman is ridiculous lol although i hear they are a pain to find nowadays and people settle for the Warpspeed? Does that mean all the ones i seen on eBay for 300-400$ are total garbage?

Thanks to this great forum I didnt waste time doing some maintenance (which i never did with any cars in my life, wasnt much interested in mechanic)

-Oil change / new oil filter
-Air Filter (didnt do the passenger side one yet, sold out at Canadian Tire lol)
-NGK Platinum Spark Plugs (old ones were burnt down! i already feel i am seeing a better performance since, i might be crazy also )

next weeks would be to see what the brakes and pads look like - would it be work it to go with ventilated pads on such a model (3.0 automatic) ?

You mean slotted/drilled rotors? Not really worth it unless you drive hard and brake hard.

Yes thats what i meant - so i should stick with regular rotors? OEM or higher quality ones?
I dont really abuse on braking hard

Welcome to the .org,now you're screwed TIME TO START THE MODS!!

Start running through the members rides for ideas if you need some, then hit up the classifieds, always something good there.

You gonna have fun with this one.

well there she is!!

Before i do any modding i want to get into fixing the bumps and scratches left by the previous owner.

I ordered my touch up pen from Nissan that i picked up yesterday, googled to see if there was any tips or methods to use while doing it and got myself into a whole new world of opportunity: DETAILING! lol

I will post pics of what needs to be done and suggestions will be welcome.

Got to start with a wash followed by clay bar which should remove the imperfections on the paint and hopefully the paint left by another vehicule on the front bumper (damn city drivers lol).
This will set me up to start doing the touch up paint part, my buddy tells me that its "sketchy" to use sand paper when doing this, on my side i red to use 3000 or 2000 wet sand paper before applying the touch up paint on the minor scratches. Any thoughts on this?

And its the next steps that i am not too sure on where to start my DETAILING! Ive been lurking on the Meguiars forum.
