I just got a pre-owned 98 Maxima SE. The stock tires are 215/55 16. However, I would like to have wider tires to increase handling. I would like to know what the maximum ammount size of the tire i am able to go without changing rims. I was thinking of using 225/55 16. Is that too big? Your responses are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Man, your better off just getting rims>>

your stock rims are only 6.5 inches wide. If you put 225s on them it "may" handle worse. I just did not like the way mine looked with 225/50/16s. If you are just wanting to keep your stock rims, just buy a better tire that will handle better, but in the same size. The tire will also stick way out from the rim. On my car it looked like a 4x4. Other people may have had better expirience with that size but not me.
