The damage aren't too bad.

No frame damage. All you need is a new hood, fendor, one headlight and a bumper. It's going to cost around $1K just for parts. Paint another $1K. Call the insurance. It's probably too much to pay out of pocket.

Good luck with getting that thing fixed. I agree with 1MAX2NV, it doesn't look that bad. Glad you are ok. Poor volvo

I bet atleast 4K+ worth of damage at inflated infiniti prices. If you went to Bob's shop around the corner it would cost about 2G's to fix.

It's an older Volvo. Looks like it sustained too much body and frame damage from the pics. Maybe two owners will get a new car this year. 2 cars damaged and nobody got seriously hurt... a blessing. Good luck Ant!

the first estimate is $5700.

just the headlamp assembly alone is over $1100.

Remember, totalling is just damage over the car's resale value. The Volvo probably had like 239429348234 miles on it, and was worth next to nothing.... But it still SUCKS! I really wish you good luck, Anthony!

you know...

95% of people would blame that whole thing on those kids.. Most wouldn't accept fault on any level. Sucks that it happened, but that's quite commendable of you. Nice to know some people still have perspective. They still deserve a beat-down I know you put alot of sweat into that car, good luck with repairs.

I heard your insurance guy just ordered a M5 He cancelled the M3 he had on order after those speeding tickets... kidding aside, glad you werent hurt... Heck, for all you know this was the best possible outcome as having actually caught those kids might have been even worse (getting hurt or hurting them).

Thanks man!! Yes, I accept responsibilty with some caveats:

1. If those kids hadn't done that, I wouldn't have done what I did;

2. If I had been on a warm, dry surface with my Nittos on, I would have made the curve no problem.

Having said that, I should have known better, I should have taken a deep breath before I rocketed off like that; I should have assessed the intersection better; I should have known the roads were slippery.

And if I ever see them, I will deliver it.

yeh, i thought a lot about what could have been -- kids in the car I hit, people in the crosswalk/intersection, whatever. I'm grateful it turned out OK.

Sorry to hear about the accident...at least everyone is okay.
Maybe save your bent up hood, and when they catch these crooks, you can beat them with the hood !

Hang in there Anthony. Damage doesn't look that bad, but your first estimate does. Oh well. At least you are okay.

This accident is nearly identical to mine. When around a curve too fast and the damage is almost the same except I lost my wheel but my hood was fine. I hate the feeling after knowing the accident was from stupidity. Costed $13k to fix which I'm sure you don't want to hear and yours looks a little worse. I went to a bodyshop though and have everything fixed with brand new oem parts so I'm sure it could be cheaper.
