*UPDATE* THIS HAS BEEN FIXED. IT WAS ACTUALLY NOT RUBBING... IT WAS "A" SIDESKIRT SCREW TOO CLOSE TO THE BACK REAR WHEEL. After having the rim company who put it on screw it down, it's fixed. this car had 4 15s so it prob came loose....
the rim company did a great job (before i brought the car) to fix it perfectly. this meant cut fenders, rolled fenders like they do when they put the phonebook between the car and tire and scretch them out. the works. so now i can go any speed over tracks or anything and no rub with 22s!
when u get rims make sure they are put on professionally. you won't ever have rub like the guys below me talk about "you will always rub" not the case. What you want is "rolled fenders" .
*UPDATE*
they can be done "diy" with a phonebook.
(original post below)
I purchased a 02 Max SE on 22s for *BUSINESS* use. This means its on my taxes. this is not like you guys daily personal use maxima, so 22s are MEANT for it. it was brought for this business purpose and not to be EVER taken off (may even have armanis on falkens). SO NO useless dumb comments about "duh duh take the rims off "
I would like to upgrade the suspension or whatever is needed to get rid of bottoming. Turning is no problem (no rub) but it seems it could use either an inch higher or coil spacers? There's a pad already on the front springs where the tire would touch the spring (not sure if this is a spacer or just so the tire rubs this instead of the spring).
I don't plan on having any people in the backseats while driving, but I know it would def bottom out. I road with one person that weighs 330-380 in front passenger, and even then it started bottoming on his side over every railroad cross & bad bumps
I am 170 ish myself.
In the back, it bottoms some if I go too fast over certain VERY bad railroad crossings (the better ones I fly over no rub) & certain very bad holes or over high speedbumps if too fast.
what do you suggest? spacers? upgraded shocks/struts?
p.s. the tires of 235/30/22r.

i should have left the original post. People are so ignorant sometime. I asked about upgrades, not what YOU think of 22s if they should be taken off or if they are for other vehicles. Are they only for chevy's ? what about semis? escalades?
This automobile is for business use, owned by my own business for "bling" and looks (attracting customers and business). 22s are perfect. NOW BACK TO THE QUESTION I ASKED
for upgrading suspension, what is best? coil pads? new shocks/struts?

i would think stock would be best im not sure if maximas have the market for those kinda suspensions but yea i wanna see how the car looks! lol

What Deezo and I are saying is that you're wasting your time throwing money into a suspension system on your Maxima to "properly fit" wheels of that size and you picked the wrong car for your business use. Also, this forum mostly doesn't support what you're asking, so you're probably not going to get the answers you are looking for from 5th gen guys. They'll tell you to buy coilovers and install properly fitting wheels instead. Originally Posted by baalpeteor

I have seen 22's on newer Maxima's because their larger size allows for them to fit. If you are so hell bent on keeping your 22's then get a newer Maxima or a different car, and you don't need 22's on a 5th gen for "bling" since there are smaller diameter wheels that will "bling" just as much.

don't have any pictures at moment, but here's some vids from the prev owner beatin(had 4 15's in 2 boxes):
the outer cover on the 22s were taken off (those louisiana saints pads) but they are chrome and black in the middle of the spokes, goes perfect with the 5% and other black accents (scoop etc) . Didn't get the front but it's the aftermarket with halo rings 15k hid's highs and lows.
i will look into the coilovers.
the newer max are ok, but the new look hasn't hit me yet as something i'd buy. I love this gen though as my mom had one i drove many times over 7 years. was ge i believe though. As for if I wanted to just buy myself a car, it would prob be a lexus, 6 series, or if I get rich enough first a bentley... on 22's

p.s. It's for a new community station in the urban black community. The back glass will have a graphic wrap with the station identification & the license plate of the call letters. Going to be great pulling up to the various hiphop clubs @ night downtown that we do paid events at.

There is simply nothing you can do with rims that big to fix the issue. It will ride terrible and you will have to creep as though you are an inch off the ground.

Put some nice 20's on it, grab some coilovers and slam it. 20 is as big as it should go on this gen max. Those rims are sorta lame lol I don't care what fancy brand they are. And what is the point of all that sub? Yaya your car is for show but there's nothing other than a ridiculous base thats "show car" About it
You know there are better ways of attracting your Kind of customers right? Big chrome rims are out (and have always been gay to me) as well as spinners. The bling scene has met the hella flush look to create something called VIP or president style, look it up.here's a link
There's also a thread about VIP style in the 6th or 7th gen section, just search. its classy and show like and its not stupid like just putting on the most expensive And largest, gayest chromies you can.find. if you do want bigger rims than 20 and good fitment then the 6th and.7th gen will prob fit them

slam it? after looking at the VIP styles that's what it seems about is lowering cars. Less it had hydraulics to also raise, i don't need to lower, the roads are way too bad for a lowered car here lol. I couldn't make it in the parking lot or over the train tracks, if even just down the road lol.Originally Posted by carsnwomen91

the outside of the rim in the video was a paper or something over it (i never seen) but the actual rim are chrome with black in the center of each spoke.
I noticed driving isn't as bad esp without people. spacers are already on there as the rims were put on by a professional rim shop here, one of the best (i'm sure they'd fix me up if I told them of my problem but i've never had time to go, as i'm not the original owner who put them on anyway)
I do like the interior of the vip/pres look I have been able to find. I've seen only 2 pics, al those were with the curtains, tvs, upgraded seats etc. Would be nice to go to a shop and have them "VIP" the car with such amenities.
oh and the speakers aren't in. he kept them lol. Don't think i'll put subs as the mids are great, even without the factory sub.

ya slam it, thats the only way any car will look better... vip style usually associated with air suspension mainly cause you can go maaaad low when parked and then mild for when you drive. but you're still gonna have to go slow over speed bumps. if sparks don't fly, you're too high! Nice with VIP Style.... i'd have a nice lexus with maybe curtains, champagne, and the likes. Why don't people do fabrications like the backseat armrest so it looks like a 7 series or rolls?
P.S. I fixed my rubbing issues. it WASNT the 22s. the car was already fitted for 22s. fenders and all been rolled (surprised none of you mentioned how to do that... but if you don't know you don't know) it was a screw from a sideskirt too close. problem fixed...

coilovers slash air suspension its the way to go if u wanna draw a crowd along with some really wide rims lets say 20x12 rear 19x10 front.with that suspension u can ride at watever height u want and slam it when ever u feel like thats wat u call an insane look. there are 3 kinds but u can find em cheaper than that retail.no bottom out with these. u guys in the south want to ride high with everything leave that for the old schools chevys and caddys and wat ever other domestic of that kind.
