Question for people with 17x7 rims

I was wondering if anyone on the forum run a different tire size other than 225 50 r17 on 17x7 rims? Correct me if I'm wrong, is the other fitment 235 45 r17? I'm assuming the difference is that the later has a lower profile and is a wider tire.

Re: Question for people with 17x7 rims

You can go 225/45R17 which has a slightly smaller overall diameter than stock. 235/45R17 has been used but some say it is too wide for safety, citing that no tire manufacturer recommends the size for 17x7" wheels. Unfortunately, it is a very popular size where as 225 width tires are not.

i have 225/45/17s on my 17x7s.... however i believe that 225 is the widest you can go on 7'' width... for a 7.5 or 8 a 235 width will work but not with the 17x7

235s are allowable for a 7" width........245s are NOT recommended by anyone in their right minds......

A forums search will provide more details.

Dude you can fit 20x9 with 245-35 on a fifth gen max. So do you think there is a problem with fiting a factory size rim on ? Come on.
