Is your join date scary?

I happened to glance at mine, and it's 11/00.

I can't even remember what the forum was before this one, but I was on it in 1998. I remember the days of Andi, etc. And some crazy dude getting on my case about liking BMWs. When I look back, it's so irrational to knock somebody because they're on one forum (Nissan), and hope to get another car (BMW). but as I reflect on life, you always run into people who try to keep you down. I got that BMW new and it's already 6 y.o., time flies.

It took 14 yrs. on the road, for the '98 Maxima SE to leave me and/or my wife stranded....now that's pretty reliable!

Haha a little, but not really. Just reflects the reliability of the car.

Join in 2005 when I got my dad's 98 SE, had that until March of 2008 when I wrecked it in a blizzard near Rochester, NY had 320,000+ miles on it.

From there I bought another 4th gen, 95 GLE autotragic rust bucket. That was really just a space holder car. Didn't really want automatic and would never have bought a car that rusted, but I was about to move and needed something to get me by for a little until I found something better. No idea about the mileage because the odometer crapped out shortly after I bought it.

Ended up running on old rusty for longer than expected mainly due to my search for a 5spd 5th gen taking so long. Finally found that in March 2011 and have been happily cruising 5thgen style since then. At around 120,000 now, if I can get the same 320K I got on my original 5th gen I will be happy, and at my present rate that would keep me on this forum until 2026

I understand the part about someone getting on your case on one forum because of you liking, or in my case purchasing another make. There are a few on a Charger Forum that are giving me grief for buying a Maxima.

Yeah mine is disturbing. I joined on my birthday in 2002. Just turned 19 and I'm 29 now. I joined over Over 2 years before buying a Maxima and now I have an Altima. Altima is not as refined as the Max but way more reliable. 5 model years made a huge difference.

What's scarier is my location in the member listings. Sorted by post count, I'm 3 down on page 2 of 1000+ pages of members. Been here way to long, it's time to finally sell the damn car and move to a different forum.

No, don't do that. Anytime me, and I'm sure any other moderator sees that you're the last person that posted, then, we need not go in and see. Mostly because we trust and can pretty much guarantee you've taken care of the question and we need not go in and see.

I noticed my attitude changed a lot over the years...in the early years, I complained if anything broke under warranty, like 3 fuel sending units. Little did I know that overall the first two somewhat more major things to break would be wear-related, cv axles and exhaust.....like in year 7 and year 12. Most cars have a lot more issues by then.....

I appreciate the complement! Maybe I'll stay a while longer.
Maybe an upgrade to moderator position??

What's scary is ... I was 20 when I joined, I'll be 32 in 2.5 weeks. It's even more scary seeing all the really young guys (mid teens) that are now adults, and have gone through school, have their own business, or jobs etc.

I remember how young Kevlo, Tatanko, Aaron, and MrGone were when I joined.

I was 16 when I joined and I had been lurking for over a year before that

Check my join date vs. post count. That's really scary. I started well before Maxima.org started.

The longer I have the Maxima, the more i want to keep it. But let's face it, 4th gens are in no way rare on the roads. Just wish the new Maximas were still sporty in some way....that's crazy turning from 20 to 32 on a forum! I've seen the same thing on my other car forum, in late 2006, all the people were professionals buying the new generation of the coupe (E92), and then today, all kids buying the cars used and modding them to no end...

Before Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr.... this forum goes back ways. Remember when people had CarDomain profiles? Good times over the years. Still miss my '95 SE a bit.

Joined back in 03'. Was going to purchase a 4th gen. Could not find a 5-speed within 500 miles so I purchased a different car. Later on, found an 02' 6-speed. Purchased that and like a dumb *** sold it a couple years later. Now I recently purchased a 99' 5-speed. So I suppose I'm back to where I started

I think I was browsing this forum a couple years before I joined.
I wanted to buy a 95 maxima as my first car, so I came on here to do some research. I ended up not being able to afford one until years later when I got the I35

11 years is a bit scary though

Joined date not as scary as still driving my '02. Had it for 10 years now. And having my cardomain in my sig shows you how long it's been since I frequented the .org.

I mean, I still have a set of speaker pods that Matt Blehm made for me for my '89 Maxima as well as a custom grille that Caleb from Courtesy Nissan made for me. This is truly old stuff.

I'm not as OG as some of you guys, but it's scary seeing my join date considering I'm 21 now.. since i joined in 05 that means I was like 13/14 years old wanting a maxima! hahaha.

The reason I joined is cause my older sister had an 02 maxima se auto that I loved and i wanted one sooo bad. My other sister had a 98 i30t at the time too lol. My parent's first nice car after coming to america was an 83 5spd maxima. if only they still had that.. My sis's 2k2 had an injen intake and tinted windows and i'd always browse the forums lurking and learning and joined for her to help her out with stuff on her car. I ended up growing dreaming of owning 2 cars, a grey lustre 6spd 5.5 gen with a bunch of mods and a white mk4 tt supra...

5 years later I have a 2k2 6spd Grey Lustre Maxima with a custom/homemade turbo kit running about 6-7psi.. I think I'm doing pretty good with my life "goals" as a child so far haha. Not many people know why I love my maxima so much, i guess it's just a childhood thing since i was raised around em.

I think my join date is scary considering my first car was a 3rd Gen. GXE in 2004, but I didn't sign up until I got my 5.5 a handful of years later after selling my S13 240.

I have owned my 4th gen for 6 years, and been on the forum for 3. Its amazing to look back and see that we all should have died 2 or 3 times but my car is still running and we are still here.

Also when I got my car I was a high school kid still into chrome stickers and stuff now I would not even bother touch, let alone spend money on.

I'm posting to look at mine, but I would assume it was right before I got my 01 SE to lurk on here and find out why the 02's were beating the all mighty Acura CL Type-S's

Yup literally right before I got my 01 SE MT.

And look at me now... Back in a 5th gen... full circle I guess.
