Xterra or Frontier supercharger..

I read a thread a while back on this but have searched and now found nothin. Since these are like the only two Nissans up to date that are supercharged from the factory, and considering their both V-6's (if that means anything ), how hard do you think it would be to mount one of those to a Maxima ? I know some custom fabrication would be goin on, but like if someone got that supercharger off a wrecked frontier/xterra at a junk yard...I think it would be pretty interesting to see if it could work.

What do yall think?

Re: Xterra or Frontier supercharger..

don't they use roots-type blowers??? if so you'd spend less by just getting the Vortech! mounting and fitting a roots on the Maxima might present some problems.....

Anyways, they only add like 40hp to those cars. The vortec gives the max about 80-90. Definetly more worth it.

first of all they have VG motors which have a different intake manifold than a VQ so it wont bolt up without some major cutting and welding of the charger and lower intake manifold, Then you have the problem that you need the proper t body. Plus I doubt the charger on them is capable of any decent performance gains like the stillen.

not only won't they fit.. roots blowers have no benefit from smaller pulley's.. the SC performs less with smaller pulley.. unlike centrifugal that performs better as it increases in boost..

Craig if you want to know if it will fit.. check the 4th Gen FAQ on if i can put a 300zx motor in my maxima thread

you know it takes mucho fabrication to put the engine in right? you are better off using the DE block and putting all the DET parts in..

I am a master of fabrication Ive done a turbo on a rabbit conv. and then another on a rabbit GTI with a front mount intercooler and believe me they were a pain to run tubing because they were 8 valves and have exhaust and intake on the same side of the head. I know it wont be easy but I dont mind the challenge. Just wait and see!
