What did you do to your Maxima/I-series today?

Thought it would be cool to see what everyone is up to with their cars . I spent this morning changing the oil, doing an ATF drain/fill and replacing the cabin & engine air filters. Wally-World was selling 5 qts of conv. 5W-30 Castrol GTX for $16 so I just picked it up along with a Purolator PureOne filter at Advance Auto Parts for like $5.50. For the ATF, I just stuck with boring old Matic D.

I also attempted to vinyl wrap my side mirrors in gloss black but it was too cold outside and couldnt get all the wrinkles out so I delayed the project for warmer weather.

I also ordered some LED license plate bulbs and chrome rear turn signal bulbs. Ordering a 4300k morimoto HID kit for the fogs soon as well.

Did the ghetto air box mod yesterday afternoon. Didnt do the coat hanger version, just drilled the holes in the air filter holder. Added a nice little sound, cant tell much of a difference on the butt dyno, though!

New radiator and alternator

Radiator sprung a leak, replaced it yesterday. Also replaced the alternator while the radiator was out. With 240K on the car I figured the alternator was going to be giving it up soon anyway.

Over the weekend:

Replaced the front valve cover gaskets and sealed it nice and good with RTV sealant. I recommend using the sealant because it still leaked after I replaced it 2 nights before. Need to do the rear on another weekend.

Also replaced my original cat with 347k miles on it. didn't look clogged but my car is happier with the new Magnaflow from Warpspeed.

Next weekend:

2 new Illuminas go on the rear.

Replaced 2 burned out brake light bulbs on my 97. Car has 5 brake lights bulbs total, so I still had brake lights.

But that's pretty good. My car was made in Dec of 1996 and those were original bulbs, so that's 16+ years.

Installed new spectre cone air intake. I believe its called a pop charger. Took off the stock air box and just replaced it with a new open cone filter. Love the bark noise now!
