Y Pipe Problems

I have had my y-pipe for exactly one year, which I purchased from Cattman. The flex joint has started to leak pretty bad. I can't visibly see a crack or gap in it. But I can see that part of it is all black where it is leaking. Makes the car sound like crap. I am just wondering if anyone else has had this type of problem!? I'm still waiting to hear back to see if this part will be covered. The warranty is only good for one year. Another headache.
Peace.

Check the warranty on the pipe. I think it's around one year. Others have had their leaking flex pipes changed under warranty.

Y-pipe problems

If the warrenty has lapsed and won't be fixed e-mail Dallas. We have fixed quite a few y-pipes with leaking flex sections. I think we charge $40 or so and includes our newest lined flex section. 1-866-801-9338

Cattman is a nice dude! I am sure he will replace it for you for free if you ask him very politely and explain to him what happen.

I agree Brian is a great guy, but if he does not warranty it call Dallas at WSP he will fix it for you with a very good quality flex section.

I'm pretty sure cattman's warranty on y-pipes is 2 years......

I had a problem with my flex on my pipe back in August....he fixed it no problem...

Thanks for the replies. I am having my mechanic fix a few things on my exhaust system next week. I am wondering if I could have him take out the flex joint and solder in a solid pipe. Would this work well? What is the purpose of the flex joint anyway? Thanx.

Flex pipe

The flex section allows some movement when the engine accelerates. Replacing the flex section witha solid pipe is not a good choice. It will probably only last a short period of time, then break. See if you exhaust Man can get his hands on a lined flex section. This may not be easy as Dallas and I struggle to keep enough of the high end lined flex sections in stock.Good luck.
