Keeping the Max forever?

Who else plans on keeping their Max for the rest of their life? I have 26k miles on my now and plan to drive it for the next 10 years to around 130,000 miles maybe? At that point I figure it will only be worth a few grand if that much and not worth selling. Just picture driving your Max 30 years from now when most cars are probably electric and make no engine noise at all. That is assuming there are still cars which there may not be at all.

i'll be keeping my 97 as my daily driver as long as it lasts but since this is my only car at the moment it will be one heavily modified daily driver. S/C i hope some day?

Well, it looks like my sister will be buying this car from me sometime in Spring 2003. Then I'll be buying a '99 5-speed which I'll keep for a long time, or at least that's what I plan right now.

I'm keeping the car. I'll just by another vehicle like a truck or something. I need another truck.

I'm keeping mine till it dies. I was considering an E-Class in a few years, but if the Max is fine, I doubt I'd want another sedan. Maybe by then, the R35 is here? One can hope.

HAHAHA 130k miles pfffffh. I'd still be driving our then brand new 87se now had I not blew up the engine (never ever hold the engine at 6400rpm for more than 1 min). Consider our 87se retailed for $18k fully loaded (leather, auto AC, adjustable suspension, etc), now it would cost about $2000-2500 if it had under 175k miles (mine had 222k miles). Maybe in 10 years nissan will discontinue the maxima line all together like they did the 240 and 300Z. I'd rather have engine noise vs those electric motors.

I'm going to keep this car until it or I die, whichever comes first. When I get out of school and get a job I'll look into getting another car, but I want to have a daily driver, and this car's perfect for that.

I wish I could get a 5 speed, but I have about $0 to spend, so I'm stuck with my auto. I've got 81K on it, and I plan on keeping it for another 120K or so.....I wanna join the 200K club! I don't know how all you guys can get a new car so often, especially after you put so much money into your current car.

Good point. I guess I'll have to do a 5 spd conversion some day.

Forever? No way. I don't have the money. If I did have the money, this car would be gone in a heartbeat.

Forever eh? Well, I'll certainly try! I think in several years I might get a 6-speed 2k2 to supplement it (or a BMW if I win the lotto ), but I don't see myself getting rid of it short of some catastrophe. Engine needs a rebuild a few years from now? No prob!
