Blue climate controls done RIGHT!!!

Well I finally had some more time to get the climate controls how I want them, not the crappy fading blue but nice brilliant lighting from the buttons... and then red underneath. It has been a long tedious road but definitely worth it. The picture is here http://greginfinity.tripod.com/led/ but it doesn't really do it justice but you get the idea. A nice mod for those that like tinkering, and a good mod for me to sell to YOU If you want me to do this for you now that I am an expert... let me know and we can figure something out, but I am very pleased with the results!

yeah i know huh? school opened its mouth after that meet and swallowed me whole. but as for the writeup, it will cost you $100 a pop since it is copyrighted... well okay i guess i will do it i am not sure if all the climate controls are similar on all 4th gens but i will get a basic writeup anyway. as for 5th gens, i am not sure what the consoles even look like so i guess you'll have to give me a ride in the new 6 speed emax! now that i have taken the climate controls apart a few times, i have figured out how it was meant to be disassembled so it should be fairly easy for you guys. I will work on a writeup this week, and if you need help, i will bring the soldering iron to the next mass meet i can make.

true true... now it must be copied... let us know how you did it! hehe

I had taken apart the climate control area... i found it extremely tricky to open, the first time around.

i was considering changing the little lights in there to blue... just have to figure out how to attach a resistor to the led. I figure i'll try using a 6 volt led, and a 330 ohm resistor. i think it's 330? not sure right now... anywho, nice job looks pretty cool!

curious what mcd's are those blue and red leds? and did you use a resistor and 6 volt or 3 volt leds?

How many LED's did you use? it looks like only the buttons along the bottom were lit, and not the fan buttons or the auto and econ buttons. Also did you use RadioShack's 2600 mcd LEDs?
I did mine using the 300 (they were out of 2600 when I went) and it's a little on the dim side, but still readable. I used 4 LEDs so all the buttons are lit. I posted my write-up at http://www.z3d.com/maxima/blueclimate.html

looks nice though, I'm gonna try to switch to the 2600 LEDs when I have the time
