the 18 stands for diameter and the 7.5 and the 8 stand for the width of the rim......i think i'd go for the 7.5's

hmmm its alot easier to find 18x7.5s than 18x8s especially for the price, if you have any plans for getting a big brake kit go with 18x8s or any racing (I doubt you will cuza the fact you're going with 18"s)
basically my advice is find the wheel you like at a price you can swallow with a good offset and thats it.

good luck!

Like Carnal said, find a rim that you like at a price you can afford and see whether they offer 18x7.5" and/or 18x8". 18x8 are harder to find and or more expensive, but if your preferred rim comes in both sizes and the cost is about the same, get 18x8"...that way you can safely fit a 235/40/18 tire. 235/40/18 will fit on a 18x7.5" rim, too, but tire manufacturers do not recommend it.

18x7.5 is really for civic, accord, tl, cars that don't have much room. the maxima has more room so you can fit 18x8.5 with no problems. the rear on a max will take a 10" wheel.

Forget that slim 18x7.5 go with a 18x8 or 18x8.5 is better, see what da majority of these guys have 18x8 plus. Why go with 18x8? therefor you can go with a 235 plus width on tires and better handling.

Don't settle for 7.5 width
Save a few xtra dollars and get 18x8 or 18x8.5

Motegis are HEAVY hehe like they're made out of cast Iron or something... plus some org members say they chip easily during mounting.
honestly there is nothing wrong with getting 18x7.5s for a Max, yes this size fits Hondas too but does it make it bad? I mean Civics go with 19x7s and crap... I would have bought 18x7.5s for my second set of rims cuz they were alot cheaper and they fit my needs, but I needed 18x8s to clear my brakes, thats the only reason I endedn up with 18x8s

It seems you are concerned about money in your purchase, I suggest looking at brands like Konig, Katana, ICW, ADR, and some others

if you're interested in Katana wheels, PM cobymoby he runs good deals on Katana wheels, and maybe you two can work something out

later

Your main concern should be what size tires do you want to run.
I want to run 245's all around - yes ima crazy bish - which means ill get 18x8.5 ... i mean i could probably fit 245's on a 18.8 rim - but it would look like when you mount 225's on a 4th gen SE rim....

Only thing about gettin such wide tires and rims is my gas mileage is goin to suck, but im sure youve already thought about all angles of the effects of rims....

sooooooooo quit yer biznitchin and get some 18x8.5's

last time i checkd 18.8.5 with the right profile doesnt throw your Speedo off.

happy hunting.

Old thread but I have 245/40r18. It's seems a bit unusual for a 4th gen I know. I used to have the recommended 235/40r18 which are stiffer riding and just look small on the car. I think even a bit taller would look better.

Also my speedometer with 245/40 matches with GPS and radar speed signs on the side of the road.
