I have Tokicos and I had Sprint springs, but now I have Eibachs.
From the experiences of my self and others, it seems that they would be great with the stock springs, but they suck with aftermarket lowering springs.

I have H&Rs and Tok Blues. They are fine. However, drop the car more than 2 inches, and you'll experiecne the bounces from hell! H&Rs drop your car 1.4 inches at the most. Cut a coil to make a bigger drop, well . . . . .

Unfortunately, I don't have a direct replacement alternative (no 5th gen aftermarket shocks yet except for the Toks).

Tokicos not good shocks
This post should trip a bunch of people out.
Why do you guys buy that cheap a$$$$ shock Tokico, when you guys remove your front wheel notice that on your stock shock it says Tokico Japan. If our stock shocks were strong enough to last with aftermarket springs then we would not be spending money on shocks. Dont spend $300 on cheap shocks pay the extra $80 and get some KYB adj or Koni yellows, they come with lifetime warranty.

Tokicos are good to replace the OEM struts but do not last very long if you use them w. lowering springs.
For some reason, they last relaly long on the 3rd gens. I had my Tokicos on for 90k miles on my 3rd gen and they are still going good.

1) the KYB's would not be warrantied because of the "doctoring" and because it was not made for the car.
2) I need them now and the KYB's are still not proven yet.
3) difference in price $300-$310 compared to $565
I'm just trying to do some DD to see if the Toks would work out.
Re: Re: Re: But in the grand scheme of things.....
i had my toks for a year now and have no complaints. With h&r's i feel they are great, but if you are going lower than choose a diffrent strut. im not complaining either way cause i got them new for 225
Re: Tokicos not good shocks
Did U know KYB stands for Kayaba? Kayaba is also a OE supplier to Nissan. Head to head Tokico is a much superior product than a KYB. Both aftermarket offerings are a performance upgrade over stock. Both are designed with OE specs in mind. Tokicos are a twin tube "true" gas, KYB a mono tube high pressure. Tokico$ be a great, KYB's be a great value. Springs absorb the energy, shocks control the relese of the energy from the spring.

Yes, the OEM struts are made by Tokico. But, they ARE NOT THE SAME as the blue HP model struts available aftermarket. Tokico is an OEM supplier for several manufacturers, but that is all TOTALLY SEPERATE from their aftermarket parts.
Just because it has the same name on it, does not mean it is the same.
