Wind Deflector.... ON or OFF???

Just curious what other Maxima owners have done with this. And I was also wondering if I were take it off, would I have any problems with leaking or anything, and is it going to be a lot louder when the roof is open?? thanks

leaks - if it doesn't now...it won't when it's off
noise - yes it'll be louder w/ the roof open

I like having mine on. I, too, have a Sterling Mist max and I like the contrast it gives between the front half of the car and the back half where the spoiler is. I notice it is quieter with it on when the roof is retracted.

I took mine off when I got my car new but put it back on again. I do like the way it looks on Sterling Mist and it does make it quieter with the roof open.

yeah... the rubber always fades, but I usually just take some armoral with a rag and just rub it in real good. They works pretty well till the next wash.

the paint might be a different color under it when you take it off.

I have had mine both on and off. Currently it is off. Where the rubber thing touched the car there is some kind of film that is really hard to get off but if I rub REALLY hard it comes up. It doesn't bother me though so I just left it there for now.

Depends on your preference. I think it looks better on certain colors such as sterling mist but doesn't look that good on black.

No question, shave that baby. Go for the clean/low look and not the cheese, non-body color, plastic look.

I paid for it... so, it stays on, ugly or not!

Are there any other makes out there that have a wind deflector? I can't, off hand, think of any... why just Maxima?

Hey Victim 64. I installed a deflector for the ride from Connecticut to California a few year back. No problems...it definately stops the airflow over the roof from buffeting (that whumping noise you hear sometimes at highway speed with two or more windows partially open)... I have experienced no leaks or need to retighten the hold down clamps. Use any good UV inhibiter cleaner like Amoral or other products having a sun block to keep the rubber trim on the leading edge black.

Hope this is encouraging......Mark

Personally I think it messes up the roofline -- it looks like a big bump to me.

I don't mind the noise, which I haven't found to be extraordinary anyways. I mean, isn't the idea of a sunroof to make it feel like one is having a mini, convertable-like experience?
