Okay, I couldn't sleep. So, I thought I'd mill away some time on the computer. I ran across this recall of the APC & others Euro Tails - "Altezza's & All Clear" lights manufacturers. Check it for yourself. And don't you Altezza haters jump on this to once again trash these lights.

NHTSA Safety Recalls

Deep, deep into the NHTSA links, the recall is described as follows:

Defect Summary:
EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: AFTERMARKET TAIL LIGHT LENSES. THESE LENSES DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THE REAR AND SIDE REFLEX REFLECTORS ARE CLEAR AND NOT RED IN COLOR.

Consequence Summary:
SORRY, CONSEQUENCE SUMMARY IS NOT AVAILABLE. FOR MORE INFORMATION CONTACT YOUR LOCAL DEALER.

Corrective Summary:
APS WILL REPLACE THESE LENSES.

 

 

I thought they were considered illegal a long time ago...APC's only recalling now?

I didn't see the Maxima's Altezza's on that list.

 

APC has been recalling for years now. It's just legal stuff to keep them outa trouble when people get tickets...
