Places other than X10.com?

does anyone know of any places where i could find security cameras for the front of my house to watch the driveway? i need something that only records when motion is detected and it doesn't have to be wireless--i like what www.x10.com has but would just like to have more options

i know this is a little off topic, but it IS regarding protecting the MAX

i dno't think you'll get that good of a picture whith the x-10 stuff, plus you want something with an outdoor enclosure to keep out water, bees, spiders, etc. one idea would be to wire in a high quality pelco, burle, or sony camera in series behind a normaly open motion detector. That would turn the camera on when there is motion. just amke sure they are the same voltages and polarity. also make sure the motion detector stays active the entire time motion is detected.

you really don't think the x10 will be able to produce a clear picture for up to about 50 feet?
has anyone here used x10 before?
i'm kinda looking for something that's already packaged, as in it practically works right out of the box

i stand corrected, after goin through the sight a little more deeply, the x-10 does offer a motion setup, as well as an outdoor camera. I am a little biased against it bc i intall profession grade equipment for work, but for a low cost, this might work. also the motion detector should be the outdoors model. I think this should work for your application

the whole set up should cost under 150, and an hour or 2 of install, but your only protecting your car when it is in the driveway, and parked with camera view.

Try Smarthome.com, lots of stuff there to make your house totally high tech. Check out the subwoofers that bolt under the floor or chair for kick-a** bass you can truly feel.

I got a set of X10s to try out (under trial), and they are nice but have poor picture quality under low light conditions. I don't know if the newer ones are any better (in terms of light requirement).

If you have poor light, you might have problems. Sam's Club sells surveillance cameras, etc. Dunno how much though

yea, i got some x10 cameras, what i liked about them was that they are color and wireless, but pocketrocket is right, the picture under low light is not good at all, maybe they have a night cam or something? and the sams club camera is black and white i believe, it is very good quality though, but is kinda expensive, i think its about $300 for one camera and the monitor(you need the monitor for this camera, however the x10 plugs right into any tv). get what you want, try the x10 stuff, if you dont like it, return it, they got a return policy.

i'd have to agree on this one. let's say someone does steal your rims in the middle of the night? i doubt you'll have a clear enough picture to find out who it is. maybe i'm wrong?

we have a motion sensor light and mixed with a camera i think the picture should be clear enough to tell who it is or possilbly get a license plate number, not to mention, i would think that anyone stealing something in the middle of the night will be looking around to make sure no one is watching (security devices included) so maybe just seeing the camera would deter them--but i am getting an alarm which makes me feel like my max has a little more safety

id have to say youre wrong... someone had been ****ing with my sentra, like doing body damage and ****, id come out in the morning to find my window shattered, large dents, etc, then i got my max, and someone dented that, so i got a camera from price club, prolly the same as sams club, black and white with a monitor, hooked up a vcr, and caught my crazy neighbor one night keying the car parked across the street from my max, in the view of the camera.
