Nissan recall! Over A MILLION VEHICLES!
Nissan recall! Over A MILLION VEHICLES!
Nissan is using the GM scandal to their advantage :P
They include the
2013-2014 Altima, Leaf, Pathfinder and Sentra,
2013 NV200 cargo van that's also known as the Nissan taxi,
2013 Infiniti JX35,
2014 Infiniti Q50 and QX60

http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/niss...itch-1.2586984
Supposedly 2 accidents linked so far
I hope the list doesn't grow to include the Maxima

At least it's not bad like GM having cars shut off and fire risks from Honda minivans, and people have died.
I can deal with no passenger airbag, long as the driver (me) is OK
just kidding! But at least with Nissan we got brakes not like GM problems!

This problem was known over a year ago, and Nissan made what it thought was a 'fix', but the 'fix' was eventually determined to not work, so now the pool of cars with the problem has grown considerably. Nissan is publicizing the situation and addressing it.
But when the problem has been reported as happening only twice, although the situation exists in over a million cars, and there were no serious consequences in those two instances, we are not talking anything remotely like the GM problem.
With the GM vehicles, there have been hundreds of serious accidents reported, with over a dozen deaths admitted, and the claim by some involved in the situation that the true death toll for GM could possibly be upwards of 300.
Making things far worse is the fact GM knew of the problem over a decade ago and made the decision to not report it or take any action. This decision was based strictly on saving money for GM, not on saving the lives of customers. Ths monstrous fine just levied on Toyota may be eclipsed by what will happen to GM.
But this Nissan situation is not even remotely comparable with the Toyota and GM disasters.

I heard on the radio that GM supposedly revised the part but it was never documented... And heard a "conspiracy" theory which said people would be more sympathetic and nice to a female ceo than male so the current CEO is like a scapegoat.

The 'revision' turned out to work only part of the time, so was dropped before being installed in many vehicles.
The rumor on the new CEO could possibly be true, but we won't know until some whistle-blower lets the cat out of the bag a decade or so from now.
Since this thread began, two more major recalls have been added by GM, and another one involving Silverado and Sierra brakes is getting ready to break.
The U.S.government must have suspected something, as they suddenly sold (dumped?) a lot of GM stock (obtained via the bailout) within the past year.
I am quite sure we have a very long way to go before the court cases resulting from these problems with GM vehicles are done with. I suspect we are talking billions of bucks.
