removing and cleaning intake manifold tomorrow...few questions...

first of all my Chilton's manual says to drain the coolant out of the engine...does anyone know how to do this without draining ALL the coolant???

Also..is it really NECESSARY to replace the rubber intake manifold gasket?? I would rather not have to replace it...

finally if anyone has any other tips about the removal and cleaning of the manifold...they would be greatly
appreciated!

Thanks again!

Haynes doesn't mention draining the coolant at all. Either does the removal writeup at Maxima Driver (Extrude Hone How2). I would probably replace the rubber lower intake manifold gasket unless your car is fairly new. Rubber has a way of deteriorating... Last thing you want is an air leak. I recently picked one up at the dealer for under $4--they even had it in stock. People say you should replace the IAC and the TB gasket but I think those are reuseable. There is also an EGR guide gasket.

Good luck.
