I would check out wards automotive and Edmunds for best reviews. Try to steer clear of First years of new models they tend to have little quirks that they haven't had time to work out 05 and 06 Altimas are good years if you can find 3.5 se 6 speed lots of fun to drive especially if you can find the R models. 05 maximas are good and reliable. I also have a 2002 6 speed I just bought and already ive had to replace all the coils and valve cover gaskets now the car pops the p0011 code for intake valve timing control solenoid. and I just replaced the catalyst converters. good thing I got the car cheap. KBB or nada will also be a good place to check for long term reviews. I hope this info helps. HAPPY HUNTING Good Luck. If you can when shopping for a new ride take obdII reader with you. see if there is any codes before you buy it or stop at an autozone , advance or oreillys for a free scan.

What do you mean issues? Are you just unwilling to repair and maintain your car? Severe rust or a wreck would be the only reason I'd give up.

Your budget and requirements would help us suggest a car that fits.

How well a car has been taken care of is often more important than a particular Maxima generations reputation. The best generation could be a lemon if neglected while an iffy generation could be a good buy if very well maintained.

I agree however from my experience with the 6th Gen (not 6.5) please be very cautious if you choose an 04-06 because they are known for those transmission slips. It's terrible.

go for an 00 - 01 without a sh!tton of rust.

all the 02 - 03s being sold nowadays are usually extreme oil burners

6th gens are usually lemons

4th gens are getting way too old. rare to find a mint one these days

Interesting logic being that there is only 1 model year separating a 4th and 5th gen.

(Obligatory blanket statement about each generation which will not help the OP make a decision at all)

This is a silly thread.
