Hey Guess Whatever Everybody...
I may not fit in a 5th Gen, but......
I do fit DAMNED GOOD in a 4th Gen!!
My insurance is going to try to fix my Accord V6 given the high price of totalling it, but if the body shop finds enough additional damage beyond the preliminary estimate then my insurance might end up totalling it anyways. And if the shop finds unrepairable frame damage then they don't have a choice anyways.
If they total it, I think I found my next car though. My local dealership had a bunch of just-off-lease 98's in. One of them was even a 5spd too

This is funny, good job steve, u might want to try the 3rd gen too
civic like handling. I gotta try fitting in a 5th gen, but I'm not that big compare to you. Or try & find the 99 SE-L because most of those SE-L on this site are really fast

They were asking $17-18k for the Gen4's, so there was definitely a bit of room for negotiation. They had about 5 of them in a row right on the lot, all of which were just off lease, and most of them were nicely loaded. They also came with 6yr/100k mile extended warranties and were "factory certified"

It's a toss up, and very complicated on whether or not I'll sell the car off right away if they don't total it. It has to do with some legal/insurance issues and some pending litigation due to the fact that the focker that hit me might not be insured! ![Mad](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif)
But if it's totalled, I think a Gen4 Maxima will be #1 on the list for a replacement car.

Is there frame damage? Even if the car can be fixed I wouldn't want a car that had been through serious frame damage... it's just a lot of little problems waiting to show themselves in the future.

Get a white 98-99 SE 5spd, fully loaded w/ black leather
or a Superblack... Just don't get tan interior!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![wall](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/peepwall.gif)
Seriously though, a 98-99 loaded with under 50k miles can be yours for like 14 grand. Possibly even less if u know where to look

SteVTEC, I feel your pain, I test drove a burgundy 6-spd yesterday afternoon after work. I adjusted the seat as far back as it would go. I just barely fit in the car comfortably. I am 6'0 205 lbs but w/long legs. I had to slide the seat forward just a tad to get the best shifts but my 4th gen definitely feels roomier as far as leg room. Other than that, my initial impression of the 2k2 6-spd............WOW. My salesman had to change his pants when we got back from the test drive, yesterday made me realize how much I miss driving a manual.
Good luck, you cannot go wrong w/a 4th gen..........

Steve
body shops always find additional damage. There is always hidden damage that adjusters cannot see. I was in the same situation, if they will not total it and you decide to trade it in make sure you speak with your insurance rep about it's diminished value. A near totalled car has diminished value. Good luck and never come back if you decide to buy an Acura type S.

Re: Steve
Thanks blackgums... Acutally the body shop did hint at the observation that they're probably going to find a lot more damage than what's on the initial estimate. They did also seem to hint that they think it's going to be totalled out but we'll see.
Don't worry. I don't fit in a TL-S (very well)
