It's 5am .. Finished installing Don's VB. Stupid Question.

I've just finished installing Don's VB into my car. It took me a good 3-4 hours, and I ended up starting 4 hours later than when I was suppose to .. Everything seemed to go pretty smoothly, got it all setup. But uh .. *stupid question*

Where the hell do I fill the transmission with the new tranny fluid? None of where I looked is empty, so I'm assuming it's on the tranmission itself and I haven't seen it.

You need to get a long funnel and fill the tranny through the tube that you put the dipstick in. Fill a little bit at a time and keep checking the fluid level until you get a good reading. You can put one or two quarts in and then start the car to get the fluid moving so you get a good reading. Not trying to be a smartasz, but be sure you have the tranny dipstick, not the engine oil. Also, how long did it take to get your vb?

Re: Re: It's 5am .. Finished installing Don's VB. Stupid Question.

I ordered it in June

I'm gonna cry. I thought the spring under one of the solenoids was the spring that I had to be careful of when I pulled out the VB. Low and behold when I started my car up, got ready to drive home from my friends house, I see this big spring lying under the car. It musta bounced out and I didn't see it ..

I'm gonna freak out. I gotta do that **** all over again blaargragh. There's only ONE spring right? heh.

No impact, no idea on the spring. However, I feel for you. It could be worse. You could have driven home and then realized your error.

Bad news if its a spring....you have to tear it apart. I remember that there are 2 springs...one for that slide thingie and a big one that sits on top of the vb when you dropped it.

Big spring is the accumulator (as in the pic on the instructs), a smaller spring (a pencil might go thru) is a solenoid spring.

It never helps to do a VB mod without any sleep. When in doubt, always read the directions, hehe. And in Canada too...whew!!!

Still waiting to take a spin around the block, It took me a long time to get the spring in with the valvebody lined up correctly .. Just finished topping it up with fluid .. Expect a 'My car blew up' or a 'omg dons vb mod rules' followup shortly.

Heh, Yeah, I got it in, works perfectly (I think).

Let it warm up for a while, took it out, let everything get settled, checked the fluid again, gave it a little more power, and a little more power ..

My friend was in the car, he owns a 99 5speed civic, and while cruising around he said "hey you got the jerky-man standard car shifts now".

After a while I really gave it some power, it responded flawlessly, wether it was on a downshift, or from a stop. No chirps, too cold up here, but it really throws you around when you stomp on it

Goodd to hear Rob!! So I'm guessing you started later than 1AM?? Hehe..

So does the car feel faster? Anyway be careful, tons of cops are patrolling Scarborough so don't use that leadfoot too often.

So when do I get a ride???

The things BAD for that. I keep wishing 1st gear was shorter so I could feel the shift earlier .. It's y-pipe leadfoot syndrome all over again. I'm gonna have to tattoo your house number to my forehead, I forgot it again and didn't recognize any of your cars last night at like 9:30 . Oh well, later next week then, until then, I'll be driving around like a madman

Hype! Hype! So I'm guessing you can watch for gas needle go down now?? Ever since I filled up at 50c/liter I'm driving conservatly since hte prices shot up to 60c/liter!

btw, if you tattoo my house number on your forehead, how hte hell are you going to read it?? Hmm??

Anyway, its 60. Also you won't be seeing the 240 cause its in the garage now till my parents get back.

drop by anytime after tuesday, by then exams will be over.

I know I know...I feel bad myself..just wanted to know what its like to fill up for under $40!!

Don't worry next tank will be 91 OCTANE. I find that the car drinks more gas with 87 OCTANE.
