Maxima Germany Plates?

I take it none of you guys are in or have been in the military? It's required to get your car plated when stationed in Germany, whether it's a Japanese, German or any other country vehicle. Then when you return to the states you have up to 90 days to get your car registered and tagged at your new duty assignment.
That's probably why you see cars driving with other country tags on them. And some states like Kansas and North Carolina for example only require a rear tag unless you got personalized plates.
I usually left my german tag on the front of my cars when I came back stateside because at the time I thought it was cool. Now that I'm older I keep them as decorations hanging on the wall in my garage.
